Demon Frontier

We’ve finally arrived at our next new area, Demon Frontier. You may have arrived here earlier to pick up the Companion collectible on the ground (especially if you’re following our guides) but now, with the Wall Jump, you should be able to navigate through much more of this without much of an issue.

Push the lever to progress and make note of the Lizard Sorcerers on the way. These guys pack a punch and have nasty energy fields that will sap you of HP so watch out for that. Drop down and head to the right, being sure to make use of the Bell. Now, there are a few different routes to go here, including down, up and left.

Be sure to talk to the cat NPC, who can Fast Travel you across to any previously activated Bell of your choosing, which is handy.

Before heading down, be sure to climb up because near the top, you’ll notice a Lumen Fairy on the ceiling we can slash to release. At the top, you’ll find another switch and a route to the right. Go to the right and either defeat or dodge past the lizard sorcerers. On the way, be sure to climb up and grab the Berry to increase your HP.

Climb up and when you find a white Lizard Warrior, skip up the platforms to the right and enter a hidden area, where you’ll find 1x Sigil, ‘Magic Blade’.

Now, keep moving to the left, past all the enemies until you find a glowing area leading down. Drop down here and be sure to flip the switch so it gives us an easy passage back.

Before you move that way though, be sure to take a left to uncover a hidden area and another Lumen Fairy!

Return back up into the previous chamber and use the Bounce Pad on the left to ascend up to a higher area. Pray at the Heavenly Lily and destroy all the enemies that show up. Take a right from here and you’ll find a hidden area looping round to another Lumen Fairy (just past the Energy Flower above).

Drop back to the previous area and go left. Be sure to drop down the first platform to grab the Berry that “doesn’t make you feel any different”. Go left again and you’ll find a Heavenly Bell. At this point, your Map of this section of Demon Frontier should look something like this:

The section leading up is quite tricky to navigate, and will require specific Wall jumps to avoid the Spikes. However, if you ascend all the way up to the very top, you’ll find a Berry on the left that will increase your Maximum Magic Affinity. There’s also a lever on the right which will link back to the Springleaf section earlier in the game.

For now, drop all the way back down the gap to the Heavenly Bell. You now want to drop down here and take a right. Be sure to climb up past the enemies and grab 1x Sigil ‘Dark Healer’ (pictured below).

Head back and drop down into the next area. Now, take a left until you come to the familiar Blue hue leading to another hidden section. It’s a darkened area this, but if you keep going you’ll find a Hole. There’s not much down here in truth beyond an Energy Plant but defeat the enemies and return back whence you came.

This time, you want to take a right and head into this new section.

Once you reach this section, climb all the way up and you’ll find a Heavenly Lily on the top left of the section, just above the cyclops enemy. Now, drop down to the bottom right of this area and move into the next section. Move the lever and you’ll be back at the original Heavenly Bell with the cat.

Before we move onto the next area, let’s tackle another boss. From the lever we just pulled, go left into the previous section and then drop down to the lower platforms and head left again.

As you keep moving you’ll notice the Black Bell… and a boss fight.

Boss Fight – Bloodthirsty Siblings

This boss is surprisingly easy and it comes in two phases. The first will see Sariel just spiral around some hearts that will do a bit of damage but remain largely static allowing you to hit her repeatedly. You want to whittle away the health and then Sariel’s brother will show up.

Phase 2 will see you facing both the brother and sister together. The brother is far more melee-focused and will work on taking you out with punches. Try to goad the brother into punching to the left and then dodge past so they’re both grouped up together on the same side. In doing so, you’ll be able to attack both for bonus damage. There’s really not too much to this fight so just keep attacking and eventually they’ll go down.

After the siblings have been defeated, you’ll get a brief cutscene before being able to move on. Just before you do, make note of the area to the left. This is Meikan Village, which we’ll be returning to later on. For now, poke your head into this section and grab 1x Companion [Vampire Bat] just under the platform next to the hole in the ground.

Go down the hole, defeat the enemies and grab the Berry on the left.

With all of this done, return to the Heavenly Bell with the Cat and head down from here.. Be careful in the area just left after dropping down, as there are poisonous clouds that will eat away at your HP. Instead, climb up and over the platforms to navigate through.

Given the entire room is bathed in darkness, that may be easier said than done! Once completed, you  now want to zig-zag back on yourself when you enter the next area, being sure to keep moving down as you do.

Eventually you’ll come to a darkened area with a Lumen Fairy. This is quite easy to reach, you just need to jump on the platforms to the left (pictured below) and then jump up to reach it.

The area just to the right of this holds a Heavenly Lily, but it should be quite straightforward to reach. Just climb up the walls on the left and Pray at the Lily to increase your attack power. You want to head up from here, as it’ll lead us back to the Heavenly Bell but on the seemingly inaccessible area just left of the cat, which holds a switch and a stone wall.

Your route there (and our journey so far) should look something like this:

With a shortcut now intact, head back whence you came and drop all the way down as far as you can go (the square just below the star on the map above) and head to the right. It’s boss fight time.

Boss Fight – Accursed Autarch

Accursed Autarch is a nasty foe – but only if you attack head on. It has some pretty brutal attacks, and it’ll hit you with its spiked mace if you get too close. Be sure to make use of your jumping, hitting Autarch from behind so you don’t get struck with its weapon. Keep chipping away at its health and it’ll drop down a level, prompting you to join it.

Make note of the bounce-pad to the right. You want to use this to avoid Autarch’s explosive move, which will see it damage anything nearby. It will also start using a new move at around 50% health left, with yellow bubbles bouncing across the ground and damaging for a good chunk of HP. Be sure to avoid these if you can, but it is quite tricky as the trajectory is a bit unpredictable.

With 25% health left, it’s time to jump back up to the top bridge. Here, Autarch will become a bit more aggressive, so be sure to keep moving to attack from behind if you can to avoid the worst of its attacks. Eventually, it’ll go down.

Drop back down the bridge again and head to the right, activating the Bell as you do. Now, you want to head up and to the right until you reach the next new area. However, on the way up hug the wall on the left and jump up to grab the Lumen Fairy there. Don’t worry, we’ll be returning to Demon Frontier again shortly but we need some new abilities before we can grab everything!

Returning To Demon Frontier

When you finally need to return to Demon Frontier, we need to head for the X on the map below:

Using your Lunar Attunement, head through to the other side and grab 1x Sigil ‘Mending Resonance’. Now we’ve done all collectibles for Demon Frontier, hooray! Onto Ashen Hinterlands…
