Missing Crown Prince – K-drama Episode 6 Recap & Review

Episode 6

Episode 6 of Missing Crown Prince kicks off with Choi Sang Rok assuring Lee Gon that he’ll ensure nothing bad happens to the king. When asked to admit to the charges of treason, Lee Gon denies any treasonous acts, and Choi Sang Rok suggests postponing the hearing until tomorrow.

However, the left council members are not on board with this idea and want Lee Gon to be punished immediately to prevent future problems. On the other front, the physician dismisses the ill king’s movement of his finger as a mere reaction to the treatment.

Do Sung calls Minister Yoon Jung Dae to the palace and hints that it’s only a matter of time before Do Sung becomes the king and rules all of Joseon. Do Sungs talks about the need for someone he can trust with official matters and asks Yoon Jung Dae to take on that role.

Yoon Jung Dae pledges his loyalty to Do Sung and is asked to carry out a favour for him. Meanwhile, Queen Dowager is unable to move past what Lee Gon has told her about Left Councillor Yoon’s plans to assassinate the king and then Sang Rok and Queen Dowager.

Things get really interesting when a group of masked men break into the prison to rescue Lee Gon, and surprisingly, one of them is Do Sung. Even more surprising is that Magistrate Yoon Jung Dae is also helping Do Sung free Lee Gon from prison. Do Sung tells his brother not to waste any time and to cross the bridge as soon as possible?

I’ll handle the consequences of my actions, Do Sung says to Lee Gon.  Soon after, Sang Rok learns about Lee Gon’s escape and suspects that someone, most probably Do Sung and Magistrate Jung Dae, has helped him.

When Left Councillor Yoon finds out what Do Sung did, he freaks out on his grandson, calling him dumb and a saboteur of his own goals, but Do Sung stands up to Left Councillor Yoon, telling him he knows exactly what Yoon is up to by framing Lee Gon. The next day, Lee Gon gets booted as Crown Prince, and Sang Rok suggests Do Sung take his place, but Do Sung declines, insisting he’ll only do it if his father asks him to, not Queen Dowager or Sang Rok.

Trouble starts when the royal seal goes missing, swiped by Queen Yoon. Left Councillor Yoon demands Queen Yoon return the royal seal, but she denies knowing anything about its whereabouts. This poses a big issue because, without the royal seal, no official business can proceed, including Do Sung’s inauguration as the Crown Prince.

On the other front, the soldiers take to the streets, searching every nook and cranny for Lee Gon. They manage to track him down, but Lee Gon and Gap Seok make a daring escape. Unfortunately, Lee Gon gets injured and develops a high fever. Gap Seok notices Sang Rok’s bodyguard on their tail.

To throw them off, he mistakenly kidnaps Myung Yoon’s maid, Wol Yi, thinking she’s Myung Yoon. Gap Seok plans to use Wol Yi as a hostage to ensure their safe getaway. As the episode wraps up, Myung Yoon discovers her missing maid, and Lee Gon realizes that Myung Yoon is actually Sang Rok’s daughter, not Wol Yi.

The Episode Review

The Crown Prince is really heating up with each new episode. We’re starting to sympathize with Sang Rok and Queen Dowager, even though they’re the bad guys in this tale. Queen Dowager has poisoned the king, but now she realizes that if he doesn’t recover, Left Councillor Yoon will move forward with his plan to assassinate her and Sang Rok.

Meanwhile, Yoon is busy scheming on how to manipulate the next king, Do Sung, to obey his every command. And it looks like there might be some romance brewing between Lee Gon and Myung Yoon in the next episode, now that Lee Gon knows the truth.
