Sajo Hyun Reads Ak-Hee’s Memories

Episode 14 of Love Song for Illusion starts with Sajo Hyun letting Ak-hee take over the body. Yeon Wol shows her concern by saying she was worried about Ak-hee since she left the mind space unsure if the blade was out. AK-hee is happy to hear that Yeon Wol is worried about him.

We learn that Sajo-hyun knew about the dual personality after Ak-hee regained consciousness and summoned him into the mind space. After some lengthy talking and convincing, Sajo Hyun finally accepted the dual personality and the presence of Ak-hee.

Ak-hee told Sajo Hyun about Master Yang, and after he left the mind space, he searched for them to help him save Yeon Wol. He also advised Sajo Hyun not to act weak in front of Prince Ga-ron and not to let him realise that he lost his memories. 

Sajo Hyun is trying to understand the connection between him and Ak-hee in the mind space and wonders why AK-hee can read his mind, but he cannot. Meanwhile, Ak-hee thinks he does not want to lose Yeon Wol to Sajo Hyun.

They arrive at Sajo Hyun’s new residence, and Eunuch Neung is happy to see Yeon Wol again. He instantly recognises Ak-hee and asks if he wants to join them for dinner. Yeon Wol insists that Ak-hee should let her help with the knife wound and that he should eat with her. Ak-hee is ecstatic just thinking that Yeon Wol wants to spend time with him.

Inside the room, male Chung Ta suddenly shows up with a preposition to help Ak-hee get rid of Sajo Hyun for good so he can have Yeon Wol. Earlier, female Chung Ta and Sajo Yoong knew about Ak-hee returning and were afraid he would help Sajo Hyun regain his memories. Sajo Yoong said that he would use Ak-hee’s obsession to manipulate him.

True to Sajo Yoong’s assumption, when Ak-hee hears that Chung Ta can help get rid of Sajo Hyun to make him stronger and stop him from vanishing, he stops fighting and gives him a chance to talk. Chung Ta suggests that Ak-hee should take advantage of Sajo Hyun’s trust in him and use the metal knife to kill him in the mind space. 

Sajo Yoong’s mother confirmed the Queen’s pregnancy, and after learning about it, Sajo Yoong visited the Queen to congratulate her. He then releases Jin-seo from prison and assigns him to protect Geum-hwa and the newborn baby.

Elsewhere, Ak-hee goes into the mind space and yields to Sajo Hyun, allowing him to come out and meet with Yeon Wol. Ak-hee watches as the two get lovey-dovey, and he thinks back to Chung Ta’s idea of killing Sajo Hyun, running away with Yeon Wol, and leaving the throne to Sajo Yoong. 

Yeon Wol and Sajo Hyun spend the next day in the forest looking for herbs for Ak-hee’s medicine to help with the blurry vision. Sajo Hyun is overwhelmed with emotions and kisses Yeon Wol, thinking he should not like her as much since he is married to the Queen.

They arrive home later and find Geum Hwa has come to visit Sajo Hyun to deliver the news about her pregnancy. Everyone around, including Ak-hee in the mind space, is shocked to learn about the pregnancy. 

Geum-hwa asks Yeon Wol to help her to the King’s chambers so she can rest. However, she intends to humiliate Yeon Wol and manipulate her into leaving Sajo Hyun’s side. Yeon Wol does not believe that the Queen’s pregnancy is Sajo Hyun’s, and instead of Geum Hwa threatening her, she ends up being the one who threatens Geum Hwa by asking her if the baby is Sajo Hyun’s.

Meanwhile, Sajo Hyun doubts that he might have made Geum-hwa pregnant and asks Neung about it. However, Jin-seo reminds Neung of Sajo Yoong’s threat to his family. When Sajo Hyun asks about his relationship with Geum Hwa, Neung feigns ignorance. 

Yeon Wol decides to leave Sajo Hyun’s house, but on the way, she thinks about how everyone is conspiring to mock Sajo Hyun and decides to turn back. However, Master Yang stops her, and he is furious that she still chooses to follow Sajo Hyun. He threatens to cut off all their connections if she does not leave Sajo Hyun and go with him, putting Yeon Wol in a dilemma.

Meanwhile, Sajo Hyun and Jin-so are following Yeon Wol, but Sajo Hyun is somehow reluctant since he does not know what he intends to say to Yeon Wol and feels he has no right.

Ak-hee knows that Sajo Hyun will not sleep with Geum-hwa, and hence, the pregnancy is not his, but he remembers Chung Ta’s words saying that he will have a chance to be with Gye-ra if she loses all her feelings for Sajo Hyun. 

Sajo Hyun is confused about the situation with Yeon Wol and Geum Hwa. Moreover, he does not trust anyone around him to tell him the truth, so he tries to get Ak-hee to summon him. However, Ak-hee is avoiding him, and when he gets into the mind space after falling asleep, Ak-hee wakes up to meet with Sajo Yoong.

Sajo Yoong promises to help Ak-hee kill Sajo Hyun and take Yeon Wol as long as he helps him peacefully acquire the throne since many people doubt his legitimacy to the throne and see him as an evil person. Therefore, the only way to silence him is if Ak-hee abdicates the throne to him. 

Ak-hee resolves that he does not want to disappear, so he heads into the mind space and lies to Sajo Hyun that Yeon Wol is in love with Ak-hee and not Sajo Hyun.

Moreover, all she has been doing is helping Ak-hee recover, and he is the one who took her in as his concubine. He asks Sajo Hyun to be good to the Queen and leave Yeon Wol to him, but Sajo Hyun doubts his words, given that Yeon Wol kissed him while they were collecting herbs. 

Master Yang pretends to cut all ties with Yeon Wol while he intends to confront Sajo Hyun and help him recover his memory. He meets up with Sajo Hyun during the procession heading back to the palace, and Jin-seo tries to stop him from telling Sajo Hyun the truth about him and Yeon Wol.

Sajo Yoong’s men are in the forest, ready to kill Master Yang if he chooses to talk, but Master Yang’s mind is made up, and he is prepared to die doing one last duty for Yeon Wol. The arrows start flying, and Jin-seo saves Sajo Hyun by kicking his horse, forcing it to turn back.

Master Yang dies in Yeon Wol’s arms. Fortunately, Sajo Hyun can read Ak-hee’s mind and realises that he lied to him about Yeon Wol and is working with Sajo Yoong and Chung Ta to kill him.

The Episode Review

This was just another filler episode with nothing interesting to talk about besides the redundant switch between Ak-hee, who has evil intentions, and Sajo Hyun, who still has no memories. Like the last few episodes, it is long and bland, with no new information or surprising twists.

Every action is predictable, like Ak-hee deceiving Sajo Hyun and still thinking he has a chance with Yeon Wol. Sajo Yoong still thinks he controls everything and uses boring techniques to get the throne, like putting Jin-seo as the Queen’s bodyguard.

We all know he is the father, and we are sure Sajo Yoong suspects as much, so nothing is surprising here. What will be Ak-hee’s counterattack now that Sajo Hyun can read his mind?
