Trouble

Chapter 7 of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth confirms that Bryce is really the Overseer. Specifically, Bryce is after the young girl Lani, who’s with Akane. She is his Achille’s Heel and he’ll do whatever he can to track her down.

Bryce has been in charge for the last 30 years and seems to be over 90 years old, given how long he’s been here for. However, there’s scepticism here over his actual age. The Overseer approached Wong Tou initially but he shrugged it off, believing his threats to be empty… until he received a cardboard box with his mum’s severed head inside.

Ever since his mother’s death, Wong Tou has been working to try and get revenge. Unfortunately, Palekana have their claws deep in every part of the island. Akane seems to have escaped with Lani, who looks about 10 by Kiryu’s estimation. Kiryu decides this is enough for him to jump in… but unfortunately Yamai shows up.

Yamai sets fire to the trees, paving way for another fight on our hands.

Yamai (woods)

Boss Fight – Yamai

We’re once again fighting Tamai but this time, we have environmental damage to deal with. The trees are ablaze all around so be careful not to get cornered by any of the Syndicate goons. For that reason, Kiryu’s Essence of Sweeping is actually a good idea to use, as it’ll push enemies further toward the flames. If you can inflict Burn on Yamai early on too, this will slowly whittle away HP for a bit while you focus on the other goons.

At this point, it’s a good idea to use all your hard-hitting moves on Yamai once the other goons are down, while allowing Chitose to heal everyone with Spill The Tea.

As for Yamai, he has some big moves to watch out for as well. He uses Bite The Dust, which will do big damage, alongside Feral Lunge, which will similarly produce some massive damage-dealing power. However, the fight itself is relatively straightforward, all things considered, so keep pummelling away with your best attacks.

Defeating this lot will net you 14300 Experience, 12870 Job Experience, +10 Bond and $1080.

Unfortunately, the aftermath of the fight will see Kiryu hold back while the others escape. Kiryu starts coughing up blood… and Yamai approaches and swings down his axe.

Ichiban is livid and wants to take the fight to Yamai, believing Kiryu to be dead. Before you do, speak to each of your teammates in the Safehouse. When you’ve done this, the phone will ring and Adachi will be on the line. Reinforcements have arrived!

Leave the Safehouse and head over to the beach to meet the pair. Just approach the state (pictured below) and a cutscene will trigger.

With the gang back together (sporting some new Hawaiian threads too!) it’s time to storm Yamai’s castle. Pick the party you want for the fight ahead and head on over to Night Square.

When that’s settled, head into the Tattoo shop. Unfortunately, Yamai’s goons will show up outside. Take out the brawlers and they’ll point you in the direction of the Theater building. When you approach, be aware that you should be about Level 26 to proceed further. The enemies here are a lot tougher than what we’ve fought so far. When that’s done, it’s time to storm the theater. Select “Help now!” and let’s get cracking.

The Theater Building

Before you even enter the building, be sure to take out the goons hanging about outside. Straight after this fight, there will be another one inside in the main lobby. Just right of the elevator you’ll find 1x Safe Key.

Push open the double-doors just beyond this and continue into the next area. Just to the right, there will be some more of Yamai’s goons to take out.

Remember that Safe Key we just picked up? Well, there’s a Safe just next to the double-doors we’re about to push on through. Open up the Safe and use your Key to grab 1x Dripping Wet Umbrella.

Head up the stairs and follow the linear path along. Soon, you’ll come to another long winding staircase. Go all the way up and you’ll enter a large area. Go straight ahead, defeating the guards in front of you, and then interact with the door. Unfortunately, you’ll need a Master Key to actually open it.

From this point, work in an anti-clockwise direction around the rooms. You’ll find a dressing room just off to the left (pictured below) which happens to hold 1x Madam’s Fur inside. On the opposite side you’ll interrupt a birthday celebration. Defeat the goons and be sure to pick up 1x Bottled Sake from the table by the door.

Exit the room and take a left when the corridor splits. Enter the door at the far end and after defeating the guards inside, be sure to open the safe. Inside happens to be 1x Crowbar. Opposite this, you’ll find 1x Theater Building Master Key on the shelf.

With this key, head back to the locked door and interact with it. The screenshot below shows the location of the Master Key and also the door we need to enter.

Unlock the door and head up. Be sure to Rest in here, healing up at the Cooler and opening the safe, which happens to hold 1x Poetry Unbound. With all of this done, interact with the door.

Yamai (theater)

Boss Fight – Yamai

It’s now time for a big fight with Yamai. To begin with, take out the three Syndicate members flanking him. They’re quite straightforward to beat but this fight has an added element of strategy too. Yamai will have Support from the lovely ladies on the side-lines, who will increase his Agility and even throw HP at him too.

This is not good news, given it means he’ll attack more frequently with all the usual attacks, including Taste Steel and Keelhauler. When you get Yamai down to around 80% health, Yamai will increase his attack power and do a lot more damage.

Be sure to switch out your party members low on HP at this point, and don’t be afraid to use Pound Mates either. Charlie is a great idea to use here, as he’ll simultaneously deal damage to Yamai for a few rounds and also heal all members of the party.

While using Charlie (if you go the Pound Mates route like we did), take the time to hit Yamai with your strongest attacks. This fight is likely to go on for a fair while, but you need to be consistent with your attacks. Letting up on the offense will allow Yamai to heal up with his support powers.

Now, Yamai is also weak to Water, so use moves like Scrubdown to inflict big damage.

When the big guy finally goes down, you’ll gain 11700 Experience, 33030 Job Experience, +10 Bond and $920.

With Yamai defeated, Tomi will contemplate whether to just smash up Yamai’s face…until he’s convinced against this. One of Yamai’s associates will explain Kiryu is still alive, and he’s been asleep since he was brought in.

Yamai has been after Akane because, well, the whole island is after her. He thought that if he could get his hands on her first, he would be in a good negotiating position to offer her to the highest bidder. Smart man.

However, now that this fight with Yamai is over, he decides that this isn’t worth it and backs out of the fight. As long as Ichiban stays off his turf and they never see each other again, things will be okay. Ichiban, surprisingly, thanks Yamai for keeping Kiryu alive.

When the big guy awakens, Hanawa will advise Kiryu against getting involved in rescuing Lana. In his current condition, he won’t be much help in this fight. After this conversation, Kiryu will leave and it’ll be up to the rest of the gang to continue the good work in Hawaii.

When Kiryu leaves, head on over to the Orphanage. Bryce will be there, and the jig is now up. His goons won’t be far behind and under the guise of God’s justice, Bryce decides it’s time to lay down justice.

Hayes

Boss Fight – Hayes & Matthews

This boss fight will see a mix of Ganzhe and Barracudan guards fighting together. The Zealots hold spiked swords that can do a good chunk of damage if you’re not careful. To begin with, focus on the smaller grunts and whittle down their numbers. There are 8 of them in total so you need to make sure you take a lot of them out quickly to avoid being hit with too many strikes.

be sure to time your strikes well as both Zealots tend to guard against your attacks. A good idea is to either use a Guard Breaking move when they stand guarded, or focus on the other Zealot to deal damage.

Both Zealots will use a Fire attack called Cleansing Flash which does a good chunk of damage and could inflict Burn too. Focus on one of the Zealots to begin with and be careful as this Flash move also raises their magic and attack power. When it does, they tend to strike out with standard melee attacks that deal a lot of damage.

Be sure to keep stocked up with HP as well, especially after that brutal two-strike melee hit. Eventually they’ll go down and net you 23400 Experience, 21060 Job Experience, +10 Bond and $1840.

After the fight, Kalon and Dana will show up. Apparently they’re not part of what’s happening at the Orphanage and the Cult. They were sent out on an errand to the food bank. Now it seems like Nele Island is a haven where chosen kids are sent there twice a month but they’re not seen again. It’s certainly shady and it gives our characters a limited window of time to find Akane. However, if they do, the gang could just save a whole lot more people than they were originally expecting.
