Jujutsu Kaisen – Season 2 Episode 18 Recap & Review

Right and Wrong

Episode 18 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 begins with Yuji traversing somewhere while lost in his thoughts. We cut to Nanami stumbling upon hordes of cursed spirits. He ponders about his future dreams and current goals for a bit before fighting the spirits off. During this bout, Yuji hears Nanami’s voice and grows concerned. Mahito arrives at the battlefield.

He informs Nanami he’s been observing him the whole time. Nanami knows he’s about to meet his end and is aware Yuji’s in the area. He tells Yuji to take care of Mahito and perishes before Yuji’s eyes. Yuji fights Mahito for a bit and struggles. He asks Mahito why he enjoys toying with people’s lives all the time. Mahito tells Yuji it’s because he and him are the same being.

Mahito tells Yuji if he doesn’t learn to accept that truth, he’ll never defeat him. Yuji continues his battle with him. Mahito mentions having a backup plan in case things go sour for him. We then see him split into two beings. One is battling Yuji while the other is handling things with Nobara. Nobara battles Mahito’s clone and plans to defeat him.

The episode closes with Mahito planning to murder Nobara and bring her corpse to Yuji to crush his spirit.

The Episode Review

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 returns with another action-centric episode for fans to observe this week. After last week’s epic clash between Mahoraga and Sukuna, fans were curious how Studio Mappa would follow up with it. With saddening deaths, fabulous choreography, and interesting internal conflicts, episode 19 delivers another fascinating chapter for fans to examine and discuss with their buddies.

It’s unfortunate to see Nanami exit the narrative this soon. Despite demonstrating excellent feats throughout the series, it feels like Gege Akutami removed him too soon. While having Nanami fight hordes of cursed spirits is an exhilarating way for his arc to close, many would’ve loved it if Akutami had explored his character further or given his character a better wrap-up than what he received.

Nevertheless, the scene involving him and Yuji carries enough emotional baggage to please his fans. Nanami aside, it appears we’ll be getting more from Nabara’s character. This is great considering she hasn’t had a significant moment in this arc yet despite her overall role in the anime. I’m curious to see how she plans to defeat Mahito’s clone.
