Heartbreak High – Season 2 Episode 6 Recap & Review

Just Kid Sh*t

Episode 6 of Heartbreak High season 2 starts with Rowan working on Amerie’s controversial campaign video. For some unclear reason, he keeps rewatching the part she says, “Let me make it up to you.”

Elsewhere, Darren, Amerie and Harper prepare to move into the new house. Harper is excited, Amerie is worried about Quinni, and Ca$h asks Darren to be patient with him when it comes to sexual intimacy. Darren tries to play it cool, but he seems hurt. The topic switches to the upcoming party the next evening. Ca$h lies about having to help Roger, Nan’s boyfriend, with something, but he is meeting Chook instead. He promises he will make it to the party in time.

On the other hand, Spider and Missy finally have sex. These two are doing well, and it makes us happy to see this. However, Missy is anxious about people finding out she is seeing Spider. She asks to keep it down low. Spider agrees, but his facial expression says he wants more.

Later at school, Amerie’s video is released, and it helps Amerie rise to the top. Jojo warns her to brace for retaliation, and Sasha laments that Amerie is working below the belt and will hand Spider victory.

In the meantime, Malakai ponders whether he should stay at Hartley High. His mom is moving to Switzerland, and he can either stay or leave. He has a week to think about it. He confides in Missy that he is leaning on leaving. Missy calls him a coward and urges him to stay and fix things with Amerie and Rowan.

He corners Rowan and Amerie and asks them to be friends. It is weird, but they all agree to be mates. Amerie invites Rowan out to thank him, and they settle on watching a movie before Darren’s party.

On another front, Voss continues to fill Spider’s head with toxic masculinity stuff. He wants Spider to win the campaign to prove a point.

During the day, Quinni continues to distance herself from Darren and Amerie. They invite her to the party, and she says she might show up, depending on her mood. At the same time, Ant and Harper continue to get close. He has feelings for her but is scared to speak up.

Away from school, Ca$h meets with Chook for one last errand. They head out to the lake to pick up a drug order. Unfortunately, the boat “develops issues”, and they end up stranded. They stay there long and have an intense, honest conversation. Chook talks about how he and Ca$h are family. He brings up their troubled childhood and how he was there for Ca$h. However, Ca$h is adamant that they are done and doesn’t see Chook as family. He has Nan and Darren; they showed him what true family feels like.

Back on land, Amerie and Rowan meet after school and head to an old skating ring. Amerie hasn’t been there for years and is excited to be back. She tells Rowan about all the crazy things they did as kids there. She says that they were just kids doing kid shit. This triggers Rowan, and he abruptly leaves, cancelling their movie date. Amerie is confused and seeks advice from Harper and Darren. Amerie doesn’t understand what she did wrong. Darren is no help as they are worried about Ca$h not replying to their messages.

Later that night, the students arrive at the party, and even Quinni shows up. Darren tries to tell her they are struggling, but she advises him to find a new way to cope. She wants to drink and party like a rockstar. She has no time to be Darren’s jellyfish. Amerie anxiously waits for Rowan while clearing the air with Malakai. Her words make Malakai consider staying back.

At the party, Spider and Missy continue to hide their relationship. After talking with Ant, Spider decides to admit he wants more. However, Missy is not there yet. She asks him to prove he wants to change. Finally, Rowan shows up and apologises to Amerie. He tells her about how his brother was bullied, and what she said triggered him. Amerie is understanding, and they share their first kiss. Malakai sees this and changes his mind about staying.

A few hours later, Ca$h finally shows up, but Darren and Harper are pissed after learning he was with Chook. Darren walks out as Ca$h tries to explain, and Harper silently fumes, ignoring Ca$h. Darren heads to Jacob’s place but sees Dusky instead. He ends up staying with Dusky.

The episode ends with Amerie helping her little sister after she gets her first period. It then dawns on Amerie that her periods are 48 days late. She is pregnant with Malakai’s baby.

The Episode Review

Darren is angry and lets their anger lead. If they sleep with Dusky, his relationship with Ca$h will end. There is little chance that the relationship will survive such a mistake. Ca$h also messed up by lying, but hopefully, Chook will leave him alone for good.

Our hearts dropped after learning Amerie was pregnant, and Malakai was contemplating leaving. Will she keep the pregnancy and get a chance to tell Malakai? Whatever Amerie decides, it won’t be easy, and she will need her support. That includes Quinni, who is not in a great place either. The group needs to make up and come through for their girl. Let us jump into the next chapter and see how things play out.
