The Hills

Zeghard Fortress

 

Tempest

At the start of the chapter, head down the stairs and grab 1x Fortitude Shard from under the stairs. There’s also Ferry Service Pamphlet just behind Rolan too, marked with the Pink orb for a Journal Entry.

When you’re ready, speak to Roland and select “Yes” to head over to our next objective. Then choose “We’ll handle the goblins”. In truth, both options will push you toward the same mission.

Rolan will hand over a transceiver and then it’ll be onto Tempeal

The Hills

When you gain control of Djeeta/Gran, head forward toward the ship and pick up 1x Cobblestone.

Continue on the main path and a Caring Man will explain Hallowed Ground, which serves as a safe haven from monsters and a save point/HP replenisher. Before progressing forward, you’ll find 1x Wee Pincers, just sitting casually on the rock. You can’t miss it, it’s the one area bathed in sunlight near the cave entrance.

Head through the cave to the other side. Proceed down the hill but hug the left cliff-side. You’ll find a wooden platform here leaning off which holds 1x Wee Pincer. Finally, progress down the hill and attack the goblins that show up.

These goblins quite easy to beat, just keep hacking away with your combos. After beating the minions, free the captives by pressing X next to them.

Now, it’s worth noting at this point that if you break open the wooden boxes nearby, they’ll spill Rupies. There’s only a few, but it’s a nice way of stocking up on money.

Proceed through the tunnel and just on the right, you’ll notice two wooden fence panels and an open spot between them. Head right for this location and grab 1x Wee Pincer from the cliff-edge. Next, progress forward a bit and you’ll find a chest out in the open. This will hold 1x Fortitude Shard, 183x Rupies and 2 MSP. On the left, on the elevated wooden platform, you’ll find 2x Whorlshroom.

Drop down from this wooden area and on the lower platforms, you’ll find a goblin and a chest that holds 5x Glitterstone and 187x Rupies.

In this next area, you’ll need to liberate both the windmill settlement and the waterfront settlement. Both work the same way as the first goblin camp we destroyed. Go down, destroy the goblins and press X next to the captives to free them.

When you do the waterfront settlement, you’ll notice a glowing area on the ground. If you approach it and check with O, it’ll give a tutorial for Shrouded Treasure. These are hidden crystals dotted around the landscape that lead to a chest at the end. However, you’ll need to touch every glowing crystal to activate it.

Follow the pathway along by collecting the crystals and you’ll find a chest holding Glitterstone (S), 187 Rupies and 2 MSP. From the chest’s location, drop down and you’ll find another journal entry, Fisherman’s Log.

However, if you collect all the crystals along this pathway over the rooftops, this will open up the Shrouded Chest, which holds Health II, 1475 Rupies and 2 MSP.

Over at the windmill settlement, you’ll find new types of enemies to fight called Goblin Tankers. These little blighters will use their shield to block forward-facing attacks. Instead, you want to get behind them and hit from there with your biggest Art Skills and combos.

This will eventually pave way for a Goblin Soldier to show. These guys have meaty attacks and big HP but beyond that, they’re not too much of a threat. Liberate the villagers here too when all the goblins have been defeated.

Before moving down to the next area, there are two Wee Pincers in the area. The first is located deep in the heart of the town, right near where you faced the Goblin Soldier. It’s right in front of the burning wooden hut. This is located right in front of the far windmill against the cliff edge.

The second is on a rocky cliff-edge just on the edge of town, between the windmill and the waterfront areas. You’ll find it just behind a little wooden box and a barrel, along with a whole bunch of rope spread out.

Follow the marker down to the next point and destroy the goblins that have congregated at this new area. After a standard wave, you’ll have 3 Goblin Warriors to contend with. Lock-on to one and take them out one at a time.

When they’re defeated, head forward and talk to the Islanders by pressing Triangle next to the Impatient Man.

At this point, select “Let’s get these people out of there” to activate the next mission.

Zeghard Fortress

In this new area, progress forward and immediately take a left. Just behind the cart with arrows sticking out of it, you’ll find 1x Wee Pincer. Be sure to speak to Siero on the right if you want to stock up on gear. It’s right next to a Hallowed Ground so be sure to heal up before progressing forward.

On the way, be sure to pick up 1x Cobblestone on the right. Finally, drop down and we’ll have a boss fight on our hands!

 

Boss Fight – Greatshield Madbeat

Greatshield will use (unsurprisingly) his shield to chare at you. Just like the previous boss, be sure to dodge out the way when it charges forward. It’ll also slam the shield down in front of it in a smashing motion several times, so be sure to get around it and attack from the back.

While your comrades keep it busy, be sure to get around and smash in with some good combos. However, it’ll also call in some goblin reinforcements on occasion so be sure to focus on these guys and lock-on to them so you don’t get hit with any cheap shots.

Using your Skills near Greatshield will do you a big favour as it’ll hit both the boss and the minions at the same time, which is obviously a massive bonus!

Eventually Madbeat will hit its Bloodthirst mode. Here, Skybound Arts (Pressing L3 and R3 together) is ineffective. It’s only temporary but do bear this in mind. If that wasn’t enough, it’ll also become amlot more aggressive too.

Beyond that though, most of the moves will be well-orchestrated so just make sure you stay behind Madbeat when you attack it and watch out for the final blast attack. This will arrive when Madbeat has about 30% health left. Here, it’ll slam the shield down into the ground, sending piles of rubble across the arena and hitting the ground. Watch out for the splash radius and just keep attacking.

 

With the Madbeat defeated, approach the Hallowed Ground and rest up. When you’re ready, pick up 2x Cobblestones before preparing for chapter 3.
