Good Morning, Veronica was one of the many bite-sized Netflix shows that popped up during the pandemic and stole the spotlight. Based on real events which were compiled into the novel Bom Dia, Veronica by Raphael Montes and Ilana Casoy, it is a harrowing tale of a police clerk taking matters into her own hands when two domestic abuse victims’ cases go ignored.

Tainá Müller returns as our amateur vigilante, Vero along with Klara Castanho and Reynaldo Gianecchini while Rodrigo Santoro and Maitê Proenca create an intriguing entrance as the new big baddies of the final season.

Just a month after season 1, Good Morning, Veronica was instantly renewed. But after the release of season 2 to a lukewarm response, it was announced a year later that Good Morning, Veronica would end after a short season 3 with just 3 episodes. And well, it has fans torn as we do get a proper send-off for these beloved characters. But well it isn’t exactly perfect. We’ll get to that in a minute.

So, basically, after a chaotic season 2, Good Morning, Veronica Season 3 picks up with Vero arriving at Monte Azul to learn more about Monsignor D’Avila who “raised” Matias, Brandao and a third kid, Doum. She runs into Jeronimo, a millionaire and horse ranch owner who is just too eager to help Veronica find more information on D’Avila.

Meanwhile, Gisele has a tight rein on Angela but that doesn’t stop her from berating her father, Matias online. As for him, house arrest doesn’t seem to stop him as he is hellbent on getting his hands on Angela before she gives her deposition.

What makes Good Morning, Veronica stand out from the usual cop procedural and thriller shows is the fact that our protagonist, Vero is no super sleuth, clever strategist or expert detective. She is just a police clerk who wants to do the right thing and with that comes the biggest plus point. She is just like us peasants… she makes mistakes, fumbles and takes some gambles that fail but with patience and perseverance, she comes out victorious.

To be honest, this also acts as a double-edged sword for Good Morning, Veronica Season 3 as these relatable moments of Veronica get a little annoying. Especially, since we are so close to the end that she cannot afford to make mistakes.

The stakes are extremely high and she goes about making the wrong decisions throughout the season. And then suddenly the season 3 finale turns into a hasty, war-crazed vengeance act which feels a little laughable. This rush to provide closure also affects some already-established characters like Matias and Angela to set up the new danger.

However, with the story in mind, Good Morning, Veronica delivers a satisfying conclusion to the saga of bringing justice and taking out a corrupt system. Sure, Season 3 grapples with the weight of tying up loose ends in just 3 episodes, but it bids a bittersweet farewell to beloved a character and her tumultuous journey.

  1. The show was nothing short of disgusting, vile, and any other synonym for same. Way too violent and not connected very well. Over the top brutality. Two hastily tied together at the end.
