Noah Hawley’s brilliant television adaptation, based on the 1996 film by the Coen brothers, is finally back for another instalment. The wait seemed neverending almost. It has been three years since the last season and FX has invested heavily in making it an A-list affair. Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, and Jennifer Jason Leigh are among the star names in the ensemble. 

As has always been the case, the stories for the different seasons are not interconnected per se. A semblance of commonality will be seen in terms of themes, storytelling, and tone. The universe is somewhat shared but only the ardent fans of Fargo will spot references.

Season 5 of Fargo is set in the year 2019 with a predominantly Western background.

Where Can I Watch Fargo?

Fargo is an FX exclusive and will be available to watch on the channel for our cable network viewers in the US and Canada. However, for those who aren’t using cable anymore, FX has also partnered up with several digital platforms like Sling and Fubo. The episodes will also be available to stream on YouTube TV. After the premiere, the episodes will also be available to watch on Hulu.

For our readers in the UK, Fargo Season 5 will be available to watch on Prime Video UK. Readers Down Under can catch the new episodes on SBS and SBS Demand with a day’s lag. We currently do not have any options for our Asian readers, although it is expected that the new episodes might be made available on Disney+ sometime in the future. 

Fargo Season 5 Episode 6 Release Date

Fargo Season 5 Episode 6 will be released on Tuesday, 19 December, 10 PM ET/PT. Expect the runtime to be roughly 54 minutes, which is consistent with the time frame for the other episodes in the previous seasons. Some episodes might also be longer or shorter than the usual time frame, as has been the norm with the show. 

After the doubleheader with the first two episodes, the show will proceed with a weekly release schedule. The previous episode brings a moment of reckoning for Dot to settle her “debts” with Roy and his goons. We also saw Lorraine and Indira’s characters grow into the narrative, which only helps its variety.  

The new episode of Fargo’s Season 5 is titled “The Tender Trap.” The episode will be available to stream with subtitles. Its plot summary reads: “Lorraine calls things off, Gator asks questions, Wayne makes a surprising discovery and Indira offers a new perspective.”

How Many Episodes Will Fargo Have?

Season 5 of Fargo will have a total of 10 episodes, consistent with the previous four seasons. After the fifth episode airs, we will be left with another five episodes until the finale of the season airs in January next year. The next episode will mark the mid-season point for the show. What happened in Episode 5?

Episode 5 of Fargo is mostly set around the ruse that Dot creates to protect her family. Lorraine instructs Danish to incapacitate Dot by getting her committed to a mental health facility. It is basically an attempt to clear the path for complete control over her estate and Scotty. Dot puts up a fight but fails to escape. However, she has a plan in her mind all along. Once she reaches the hospital, Dot plays her moves.

She neutralizes the nurse who brought her there and also dons another’s uniform. As she is trying to leave, the other staff notice her and raise an alarm. Although Dot almost gets out, she stays back once she spots Bowman and his goons at the hospital.

Roy, who has gone to meet Lorraine, instructs them to apprehend Wayne. Roy expected his wife back but Lorraine makes it clear that he will have to “take the hit” since she is intricately connected to Wayne and Scotty. Dot successfully saves Wayne by replacing his patient’s name slip with another patient. Lorraine is planning to get into the credit business by buying a small bank that is on the verge of bankruptcy and has shady business dealings. 

Dot then takes Scotty from Lorraine’s house and places her at Indira’s. The officer is sceptical but Dot convinces her by telling how she was married to Roy when she was 15. It is also suggested she was taken advantage of. Indira agrees to keep Scotty with her for a few days, giving Dot time to “fix things.”
