Bocchi The Rock

Similarities – Slice of Life, Atmosphere, Female Cast

Although many fans had their eyes on Chainsaw Man in the Fall of 2022, Bocchi The Rock found a way to go toe to toe with this modern shonen juggernaut. Where the former series focused on violence and devils, Bocchi The Rock gave audiences a tale of friendship, music, and passion. Like Laid-Back Camp, this is another “cute girls doing cute things” anime. However, this one delivers informative storytelling surrounding the rockstar lifestyle.

Regardless, folks who loved following Nadeshiko and her friends’ camping trips and discussions, will find Bocchi and her friend’s musical performances bedazzling. For the uninformed, Bocchi The Rock follows Hitori Gotou, a socially anxious yet talented musician who wants to make a name for herself. It isn’t until Hitori meets Nijika, Ryo, and others that she earns the band name Bocchi and takes one step closer to accomplishing her dream.

Aria The Animation

Similarities – Slice of Life & Feel-Good Aura

If Bocchi The Rock’s comedy and focus on music isn’t your foray, Aria The Animation might be the anime for you. Like Laid-Back Camp, Aria The Animation offers a relaxing tale set in a beautiful sci-fi ecosystem inhabited by humans. Akari, the show’s protagonist, wants to become a tour guide, navigating people to different locales that’ll impact them for the better.

Akari’s passion and love for her environment mirrors Rin and the other’s adoration for camping and other hobbies. Moreover, both shows feature beautiful shots of distinct settings, allowing audiences to take in each anime’s gorgeous climate. As a result, both shows excel at giving audiences something to watch that’ll brighten their spirits and lower their worries.

With its healing aura and relatable scenarios, Aria The Animation is an anime that’ll take one’s breath away.

Do It Yourself!!

Similarities – School Clubs & Female Cast

Most anime tend to flow under the radar for many reasons. It can be due to the series not receiving genuine buzz online. On the other hand, it could stem from the series delivering subpar or poor introductory chapters. Fortunately, Do It Yourself is one of the enjoyable underrated picks. Like Laid-Back Camp, it delivers a simple tale. Yet, many will find this one appealing because it stays true to its grounded roots.

This anime follows Serufu, a girl who must reestablish her connection with a former friend and restore her school’s Do-It-Yourself Club. Like Nadeshiko, Serufu and her friends participate in many mischievous and educational club activities. Fans will enjoy seeing Serufu and her friends accomplish tasks, alone or as a team.

Flying Witch

Similarities – Slice of Life

Teetering toward the magical spectrum of matters, we’d like Laid-Back Camp fans to watch Flying Witch. This short yet serene anime is set in a rural environment and follows an aspiring mage named Makoto. Flying Witch gives audiences a straightforward plot that contains little to no essence of action or drama. Instead, it offers anime fans a peaceful experience, containing scenarios that’ll hit close to home with those in tune with nature.

From casual strolls through forested areas to peaceful conversations held between strangers and kin, Flying Witch’s slow-paced storytelling won’t be to everyone’s liking. Nevertheless, those who adore tales, like Laid-Back Camp, which emphasize the joys of exploring one’s natural habitat, will find Makoto’s ventures equally gratifying and serene.

Stardust Telepath

Similarities – Female Cast, Educational, Outdoor Antics

Stardust Telepath is a Manga Time Kirara Magazine property that evokes the same intrigue and aura as Laid-Back Camp. Yet, instead of camping tutorials and activities, this one focuses on our cast’s adoration for rockets. Nonetheless, the characters in Stardust Telepath display similar trademark characteristics as our Laid-Back Camp cast.

From the quiet Umika to the rowdy Matataki, these characters demonstrate some likable qualities and receive a smidge of development to avoid feeling stale. Additionally, the anime’s bottle rocket intel will fascinate folks and may encourage them to build some themselves. Both anime focus on companionship by implementing our cast in scenarios where they must work together to solve an issue.

While Stardust Telepath offers more intense scenarios than Laid-Back Camp, it’s another enjoyable slice-of-life anime worth watching.

Encouragement of Climb

Similarities – Female Cast, Slice of Life, Atmosphere

If Laid-Back Camp’s simplicity and passion for the great outdoors is your cup of tea, then Encouragement of Climb should equally fascinate you. Both anime feature female groups exploring nature in realistic and eventful ways. Where Nadeshiko and her friends partake in camping fun, Encouragement of Climb’s Aoi and her friends hike mountains.

Nonetheless, both groups undergo their share of obstacles and resolve said matters as a unit or as individuals. Laid-Back Camp and Encouragement of Climb deliver gorgeous shots and imagery that fans can emotionally resonate with. Additionally, some characters undergo moments of introspection, giving audiences chances to connect with them.

It’s worth noting that both stories don’t offer the most genre-defining plots. Yet, one shouldn’t deny themselves the luxury of watching these shows, especially if they’re after something that’ll decrease their anxiety levels.

Girls’ Last Tour

Similarities – Imagery, Atmosphere, Female Cast

Girls’ Last Tour’s listing may leave some readers baffled. It’s a series set in a gloomy landscape and follows two girls who struggle to survive in a world with scarce resources. Despite Chito and Yuuri’s unfortunate circumstances, they find a way to make the best out of their desperate situation. Additionally, both anime feature imagery that’ll generate an emotional reaction from audiences.

Laid-Back Camp delivers beautiful imagery concerning mountains, structures, and lakes. On the other hand, Girls’ Last Tour includes visuals of crumbled cities and abandoned shelters, generating auras of sadness and mystery. Moreover, both shows tackle wonderful topics like memories, happiness, and human connection in visually and narratively admiral manners.

Although Laid-Back Camp fans may be put off by Girls’ Last Tour’s harsher tone, those who proceed with it may enjoy it.

Non Non Biyori

Similarities – Episodic, Slice of Life, Female Cast

For Laid-Back Camp fans who are after another anime that’ll emotionally heal them, Non Non Biyori’s worth your time. Like others on this list, this one contains the same “cute girls doing cute things” storyline but sets its characters in an agricultural landscape. In this rural climate, our four female leads tackle numerous school and outdoor-centric activities.

The activities these girls tackle will envelop audiences in a nostalgic aura, allowing them to reminisce moments from their childhoods. Additionally, this anime offers a touch of comedy. From funny facial humor to amusing conversations, fans will feel right at home with this anime’s cast. Most importantly, Non Non Biyori and Laid-Back Camp excel at making viewers appreciate nature’s beauty and the small luxuries that come with it.

Give this anime a watch if you’re searching for a comfy show that’ll mentally heal you.

The Place Further Than The Universe

A Place Further Than The Universe

Similarities – Travel, Female Cast, Emotional

Madhouse Studios is known for producing stellar adaptations of beloved manga classics. Stories like One Punch Man, Hunter x Hunter, and the recently released, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End come to mind. However, Madhouse Studios has made a few gems of past and present that often get overlooked in favor of their popular productions.

A Place Further Than The Universe is one of those anime. This anime doesn’t contain incredible fights nor fully explore every character it introduces. Rather, it’s a series, like Laid-Back Camp, that’ll encourage folks to depart the safety of their homes to explore life’s secrets. In this emotional tale, we follow four high school girls’ journey to Antarctica.

They’ll encounter numerous monetary, emotional, and physical hurdles before, during, and after their journey is concluded. Each obstacle will generate a specific response from audiences, both joyous and sad. Although The Place Further Than The Universe’s storyline is more emotionally charged than Laid-Back Camp’s tale, fans will love pinpointing their shared comedic, wholesome, and explorative components.

K-On

Similarities – Slice of Life, Female Cast, Atmosphere

Considering we started with a wonderful new-gen “moe” anime of the music variety, it’s fitting to wrap this piece up by recommending one of the founding fathers, or mothers, of it all. Enter K-On, one of the most popular “moe” anime of the 2000s anime era. This anime set the stage for many Manga Time Kirara gems to follow, including Laid-Back Camp.

This classic wonderfully explores its female-focused cast’s daily lives. When our girls aren’t buying snacks at stores, they spend most of their time practicing music in their club room. K-On finds a way to get fans hooked on our girls’ excursions, regardless if the scene they’re placed in holds narrative significance. Like Laid-Back Camp, this anime oozes happiness, reminding folks that life can be equally pleasant and mindful.

Although many “moe” anime have come and gone since K-On last aired, many consider it a must-watch for all fans.
