Enter School-Live!, a 2015 horror anime about a group of girls who utilize traditional school activities to cope with their apocalyptic situation.
School-Live! wasn’t the first anime to offer a dark take “cute girls doing cute things” phenomena, but it’s one of the best at it. Even though this anime doesn’t delve into its darker aspects enough, it still presents an excellent narrative about mental health, survival, and friendship.
Laid-Back Camp
Back on the wholesome bandwagon, Laid-Back Camp presents audiences with a simple and heartfelt tale about camping. The story examines the daily ventures of high school girls. These girls explore numerous locales together, each location looking prettier and grander than the last. From snow-capped mountains to serene lakes, you’ll admire this anime’s strong attention to detail.
After watching this anime, you’ll gain a newfound appreciation for the simple moments in life. Rin, its protagonist, finds solace through camping with others and learns to relax in the face of tough events. Through Rin’s ventures, viewers may be inspired to approach their life challenges similarly.
A Place Further Than The Universe
A Place Further Than The Universe is a short, sweet, and comforting anime that’ll make viewers wish it’d been longer. The story follows four girls who embark on a quest for Antarctica. These girls will face numerous trials before and after they embark on this trip. From raising money to learning the “dos and don’ts” of exploring, fans will appreciate seeing them overcome these obstacles. It’ll leave fans with a great life lesson on how pursuing one’s goals isn’t easy.

Bocchi The Rock
Bocchi The Rock became a smash hit with fans in Fall 2022. Many admired it for its likable cast, entertaining humor, and excellent depiction of band life. This story follows Hitori Gotou, a girl who wants to become a popular and beloved musician. After encountering a girl named Nijika and forming the Kessoku Band with her and Ryo, we’ll see how Hitori’s journey to stardom unfolds.
Despite having exceptional music skills, Hitori suffers from severe social anxiety, which is another trait fans adore about her character. Not only does the series’s creator Aki Hamaji tackle this issue maturely, but she finds a way to make Hitori’s illness feel respectably comedic, too. The other characters receive great screen time in this anime, too.

Azumanga Daioh
Azumanga Daioh is a wholesome family anime with great comedy, characters, and heart. It follows Chiyo, a girl who struggles to navigate through the ups and downs associated with her life. Fortunately, she’ll meet multiple companions who’ll help her through it all in meaningful and amusing ways.
This series offers a wonderful stance on family values and friendship. It places its cast in intense and comical situations, with some feeling more exaggerated than others. Although fans will giggle at the cast’s failures, they’ll find themselves cheering for them when they accomplish something. This is a perfect feel-good anime to watch whenever life has you thrown for a loop.
Lucky Star
Alongside K-On, Lucky Star slowly garnered a following for itself during the late 2000s period. Additionally, this is a Kyoto Animation work beloved by many for its likable cast, charming comedy, and colorful scenarios. In it, we follow Konata and her friends as they partake in many delightful and fun activities.
