Alice & Jack – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Episode 2

Episode 2 kicks off with Paul offering Jack advice on how to handle Alice now that she’s back in his life. Paul suggests either seeing Alice in secret, which is wrong or telling Lynn everything, which is risky. Jack opts for the first option and joins Alice as she visits her father after her mother’s sudden passing.

Randall, Alice’s father, thanks Jack for being there for Alice during this difficult time. Unfortunately, during the service, Randall suffers a heart attack, and despite the emergency, Alice doesn’t lift a finger.

Lynn discovers Jack’s lies after seeing him with Alice on the news. They have a conversation where Jack admits that he thought about Alice every day, even during their relationship. Lynn feels betrayed and believes their relationship can never be the same again. She asks for a divorce and requests Jack to leave the house the next morning.

Jack’s phone rings during their argument, which only adds fuel to the fire, leading Lynn to smash it with a hammer. A couple of weeks later, Jack and Lynn meet with their lawyers to discuss the terms of their divorce. Jack agrees to see his daughter only two days a week and make a hefty payment.

Later that day, Alice meets Jack and tries to apologize for causing trouble in his marriage, but Jack reassures her that it’s not her fault. She offers to help him find a place, but Jack declines, saying he will manage on his own. Eventually, Jack gets his own apartment and moves out of his co-worker’s house. Alice sends him numerous items, including furniture and baby mattresses, as a housewarming gift.

Jack thanks Alice and invites her to his new place so she can meet Celia. Alice arrives at Jack’s apartment, and they discuss taking their relationship slow if they decide to try again. Jack and Alice meet again, and Alice opens up about her tragic past and attachment disorder.

Alice confesses his love to Jack but suggests they shouldn’t have a future together. She’s afraid of disappointing Jack and believes she’ll only hurt him repeatedly. Jack tries to change her mind, but Alice hints that they might never see each other again.

The Episode Review

Jack’s no longer the same guy he used to be – he’s lost some of his spark and depth. Years ago, he tangled up with Alice, but her unpredictable behaviour and separation anxiety pushed them apart. Fate had other plans, though, and they found themselves drawn back together.

But you know what they say: history has a funny way of repeating itself, and round two wasn’t any different. After Alice, Jack found himself in the arms of Lynn. They tied the knot and even welcomed a little one into the world.

Yet, despite building a life with Lynn, Jack couldn’t shake his thoughts of Alice. Eventually, cracks formed in his marriage, and he and Lynn went their separate ways. And wouldn’t you know it, just when Jack thought he might have another shot with Alice, she vanished once more. Seems like their story’s stuck in a loop.
