Castlevania: Nocturne – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

In Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 Episode 8, we see Erzsebet Bathory, the Messiah, as she transforms into Sekhmet, the deity of War. Meanwhile, Abbot Emmanuel is shown in this scene as he’s preparing to sacrifice his daughter Maria at the church. Richter, Tera, Annette, and Mizrark walk in during the ritual.

Does the group stop the Abbot from sacrificing Maria?

Richter, Tera, and Mizrark then resolve to stay at the church until they have finished their mission there. Meanwhile, Annette heads to the basement to save Edouard and to help send the night-creature-making machine back to hell.

Tera attempts to reason with the Abbot at first, but she fails. The group finally succeeds in rescuing Maria from the Abbot’s clutches. A fight then breaks out, with the Abbot ordering his night creatures to assault the group after Drolta’s arrival.

Does the group send the night-creature-making machine back to hell?

Annette is attacked by a monstrous night creature as she makes her way to Edouard in the basement. Luckily, Jacque, another night creature, helps her in her quest to eliminate the enormous monster. Following this, Annette goes up to Edouard and attempts to rescue him. Edouard tells her that he doesn’t want to go because he has a purpose there.

Tera is seen chanting the spell to get the machine sent back to hell, and Annette is helping make this possible from the basement. Things seem to be going smoothly until Erzsebet Bathory shows up.

Does the group save Maria?

The group takes turns attacking her, but she is immune to each and every one of their blows. On the other side, she has tremendous strength and can easily destroy them. Erzsebet Bathory lays out her strategy with regard to Maria. She explains that she doesn’t intend to kill her, but rather turn her into a vampire.

The Abbot is completely taken aback by this information. Tera offers herself to be transformed into a vampire. When Erzsebet argues that the Abott doesn’t love her, Tera proves that he does. Following this, Erzsebet agrees to transform Tera into a vampire instead.

Who is Alucard?

Following this, Tera starts being transformed and asks the group to save themselves. When the group runs, Drolta chases them with a bunch of night creatures. In the episode’s climactic moments, just as Drolta is about to squash everyone, Alucard the son of Dracula appears and saves the day by killing Drolta.

The Episode Review

In this episode, our heroes succeed in saving Maria. Tera makes a huge personal sacrifice, though. On top of that, the group fails to send the night-creature-making machine back to hell. Alucard, Dracula’s son, arrives just in time and wraps up the season with a bang by crushing Drolta.

You’ll feel a wide range of emotions while you watch this episode. Erzsebet Bathory appears when everybody else seems to have things under control, and immediately complicates everything. Furthermore, right when you think Drolta is about to wipe out the group, Alucard unexpectedly appears and saves the day.

Episode six’s fight sequences were significantly more intense than the finale’s, however the ones in this episode were terrific as well. Unfortunately, my expectations were raised so high after episode 6 that the fight sequences in episode 8 fell short.

In this episode, we get to see just how strong Erzsebet Bathory truly is, and she truly is a formidable force to reckon with. A stunning new character was introduced in this episode’s ending, and the show brilliantly set up the premise for the second season.
