The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons – Season 1 Episode 10 Recap & Review

Mikoto and His Little Brothers

Episode 11 of The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons begins with Mikoto and Minato discussing matters at school. The narrator examines the differences between Mikoto and Minato’s characters. As the two brothers head home, the narrator explains Mikoto’s brotherly complex to the audience. Gakuto greets his brothers when they arrive home, and Minato showers him with love. We transition into a flashback involving Hayato, Mikoto, and Minato.

Minato wants their mother, but Hayato insists Minato relax since he doesn’t want him to disturb their father. H promises Minato that their mother will return home soon. Minato continues crying so Mikoto draws his favorite Power Ranger to calm him down. Minato tells Mikoto he can draw better than him. He draws a Power Ranger and Mikoto says it looks great. He asks Minato if they can exchange drawings. The narrator explains how Mikoto’s praise helped Minato overcome his sadness.

Unfortunately, Minato asks Mikoto when he thinks their mother will return home. Mikoto reminds him that she’ll return when she’s finished giving birth to their little brother. Minato asks Mikoto to explain what a “little brother is.” Sometime after, their mother returns home with Gakuto. Minato’s taken aback by Gakuto’s presence at first, but with some help from Mikoto, he learns to appreciate and be less fearful of Gakuto’s existence.

Minato starts spending more time with Gakuto by feeding and playing with him. Their mother praises Minato for being a caring older brother. While Minato is feeding Gakuto, Mikoto asks him if he’d like to take a break and play with a ball outside. Minato says he’s busy caring for Gakuto and declines. Hayato offers to play with Mikoto instead, but Mikoto tells him he’ll play alone. Mikoto visits a park and wishes Minato spent more time with him instead of Gakuto.

While helping Minato’s brother dry off, Minato tells Mikoto he lied about Gakuto being someone like himself. Minato finds Gakuto adorable and doesn’t believe he’ll ever do anything to make him mad at him. Minato falls asleep and Mikoto is surprised by Mintao’s interest in Gakuto. In the present, the narrator explains how Minato’s interest in Gakuto never changed and how Mikoto is jealous about their relationship today.

Gakuto suggests Minato help Hayato with the fried pork chops. Mikoto and Gakuto discuss their relationship with Minato for a bit. The episode closes with Hayato approaching Mikoto and asking him if he can help him with the fried pork chops.

The Episode Review

After the mini-arc involving Gakuto’s Visitation Day dilemma, this chapter gives us more details about Mikoto and Minato’s clashing brotherly complexes. It’s amusing to see how touching Minato and Gakuto’s relationship started compared to Mikoto’s bond with Minato. If you recall this tale’s earlier events, Mikoto and Minato had a rocky relationship when they were kids.

Fortunately, Mikoto learned to enjoy his role in the family and developed deeper feelings for Minato. While Minato had similar qualms, his transition from little to older brother went swimmingly in comparison. Many folks will find this family dynamic interesting as it shows how folks don’t have a predetermined route to follow in life.

Overall, this was an enjoyable episode of The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons. It exceptionally highlighted the differences between Mikoto and Minato’s characters and shed light on their feelings toward Gakuto, before and after he was born. I’m interested to see what other tales the author plans to delve into with this series.
