Where are Remo and Reynold Roy now? Netflix’s Curry & Cyanide explained

What were Jolly Joseph’s crimes?

The six murders from the Koodathayi Cyanide Killings were all linked to the Thomas-Shaju family. Almost 5 years following the sixth and final murder, Jolly Joseph was revealed to be the mastermind behind the deaths. Netflix’s documentary, Curry & Cyanide, revolves around the life and crimes of Jolly Joseph, the prime accused in the case who was confronted by her oldest son – Remo Roy.

Jolly Joseph is accused of having killed her mother-in-law, father-in-law, husband, husband’s maternal uncle, as well as the wife and daughter of her husband’s paternal cousin. The six murders linked to Jolly Joseph had gone unnoticed until Jolly’s son, Remo confronted her about the murders.

Who is Remo Roy?

Born a few years before Jolly’s first murder – that of her mother-in-law, Remo Roy narrates the story of his happy family before the chaos began. The Netflix documentary features testimonies from Remo as he details how his family had little to no issues when he was younger. He only recalls seeing his parents argue as he got older.

The documentary also reveals how Remo had no knowledge that his mother poisoned his father by adding cyanide to the curry he had for dinner on the night of his death.

Jolly was arrested in late October of 2019, 17 years after her first murder – that of her mother-in-law Annamma Thomas.

After watching news reports and articles about Jolly’s alleged involvement in the six murders of the Thomas-Shaju family, Remo reveals to have confronted his mother. Upon much prodding, it was revealed that Jolly confessed to Remo, taking accountability for her crimes.

Where is Jolly Joseph’s son Remo now?

After learning about his mother’s crimes, Remo contacted his paternal aunt, Renji, who was one of the key persons in this case. Jolly’s crimes were first identified by Renji after she read the autopsy report of Roy Thomas, her brother (Jolly’s husband).

After Jolly was arrested, Renji showed up to bring Remo and his younger brother to her home. The documentary features an interview following Jolly’s arrest where he says,

“I cannot say anything (about the case) yet as we are all waiting for the final result in the case. I cannot afford to be worn down by this process as I have to take care of my brother. I have a responsibility that I have to take care of him. So I am going to overcome this and I am going to move on. That’s all.”

Remo reveals how he was taken in by Renji and now he and his brother live with her as a family.

Meanwhile Jolly and her accomplice, M. S. Mathew, are in remand at the district prison in Kozhikode – Kerala, India.
