Alongside the upcoming movie adaptations of Stephen King’s works are the following TV series that will be coming to your living rooms in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future.

Which of these are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.

Welcome to Derry

Release Date: 2025

Welcome to Derry isn’t an official adaptation of one of Stephen King’s stories but it is a prequel to IT, that terrifying book/two-part movie about Pennywise, the shape-shifting monster clown, and the brave members of The Losers Club who stand up against it.

Andy Muschietti, the director of the 2017 and 2019 IT movies is developing this prequel series that will debut on Max sometime next year.

The Dark Tower

Release Date: TBA

The 2017 movie adaptation failed to do justice to Stephen King’s fantasy-western saga, so here’s hoping Mike Flanagan’s upcoming series will more be faithful in its telling.

If you need a reminder, The Dark Tower book series is set in an alternate world and tells the story of a gunslinger named Roland Deschain and his pursuit of an evil sorcerer called The Man in Black who is heading for the titular tower.

Later

Release Date: Hopefully sooner than later

Blumhouse Television is developing this adaptation of King’s 2021 novel about a struggling single mother and her son, a boy who has the ability to communicate with the dead. Haley Joel Osment will identify with his predicament!

We don’t know who will be playing the boy at present but we do know Lucy Liu will be starring as the mom.

The Talisman

Release Date: TBA

The long-awaited adaptation of the fantasy novel from King and co-writer Peter Straub is being developed as a series for Netflix by Steven Spielberg and The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things).

The book tells the story of a 12-year-old boy and his journey into an alternate world known as the Territories on a quest to find a talisman that will save his dying mother.

The Jaunt

Release Date: TBA

King’s 1981 short story is set in the future at a time when it is possible to teleport to other planets in the solar system. But there’s a catch. While it’s possible to be zapped away on the trip of a lifetime, those not sedated properly before the journey risk going utterly insane!

Fear The Walking Dead co-creator Dave Erikson is the man turning this mind-bending tale into an upcoming TV series.

The Ten O’Clock People

Release Date: TBA

Published in King’s 1993 anthology Nightmare & Dreamscapes, The Ten 0′ Clock People tells the story of a Boston office worker who makes the startling discovery that people of power, including the Vice President of the United States, are actually bat-like monsters in disguise.

The story, which has much in common with John Carpenter’s movie They Live, is being turned into a series by Bosch producer Henrik Bastin.

The Institute

Release Date: TBA

The creative team behind the Mr. Mercedes TV series are now working on an adaptation of King’s 2019 novel.

The book tells the story of a young boy who is abducted from his home by a mysterious government agency and placed in an institute that houses children with special powers.
