The Demon Prince of Momochi House – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review

A Cat and Wandering Child

The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 8 begins with Himari confessing her feelings to Aoi, and he claims he cannot see her the same way. A few days later, Ise and Yukari try to lighten her mood with food and music, but it only embarrasses her. Just then, there’s a loud thud outside. As they go out to check, they see a group of ayakashi flooding the doorway. Himari uses her command to send them out.

Ise and Yukari later tell her about Aoi’s slump as his seals aren’t working. Just then, Granny Cat enters the room with a thud. She gets her minions to clear off the ayakashi. Granny Cat brings up a catalogue of ayakashi princesses for Aoi to select a wife from. Aoi claims it is too early for him, but Granny Cat insists. Himari steps up for him and claims he is a human and not ayakashi, at which Granny Cat claims a mere human cannot possibly know anything about Aoi.

Himari ponders over her words at the park. Her friends discuss a mysterious man. Returning home, she begins to clean the house. Just then, Granny Cat comes in and treats her like a servant and then dirties the room, making her clean it all over again. Himari eventually gets tired after cleaning, and Ise gets her food.

Following that, Granny Cat claims she has lost a jewelry item, and Himari volunteers. Granny Cat has found the jewelry item but makes Himari search for it regardless. She also asks Himari to search for it in the pond outside and then heads off to sleep. Aoi comes to help her and brings her out of the pond.

The next day, Himari arranges a pot lunch to cheer Aoi up. Aoi appreciates her efforts. At the end, an ayakashi jumps into the pot causing the fire to be extinguished with the splash.

The next day, Granny Cat informs Himari that she is leaving. When Himari apologizes for not being able to find the ornament, Granny Cat claims she has found it and hands it over to Himari. She tells Himari it is a winter cherry lantern that can light the way of truth. She claims Aoi is lost and needs to find his way at the end of The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 8.

The Episode Review

In The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 8, Aoi seems to have gotten weak, and Granny Cat visits to make him feel better. Unfortunately, Granny Cat is extremely rude to Himari and treats her like a servant. However, towards the end of the episode, it seems that Granny Cat was only testing Himari and how suitable she is for Aoi. She essentially tests the lengths Himari will go to and how tolerant she is.

Although the intentions of Granny Cat were good, the way Himari was treated was quite bad. However, it was the appropriate test as life can hit just as hard or harder. The story seems to be getting somewhere in terms of Aoi and Himari’s friendship. Interestingly, someone in the school remembers Aoi and it’ll be interesting to see how things turn out given the situation.
