The Archies Plot Summary

The Archies is the latest adaptation of the beloved Archie Comics. Set in a fictional India, the Netflix Original is directed by popular director Zoya Akhtar. Does Archie leave for London?

With Uncle Ben constantly encouraging Archie that he has nothing left in Riverdale and to join him in London, the boy agrees. His father is not happy but gives in and even makes all the arrangements including the financial aspect despite Ben claiming that he can handle it. Archie also gets his acceptance letter to a London school and the gang throws him a farewell party at the lakehouse.

However, when his father, Fred is finalising his travel details, they have a talk. Fred shares that the grass may be greener on the other side but he and his father always believed in giving back to their homeland and being a part of it. This strikes a chord with Archie as he walks through Green Park.

He decides not to leave, especially since he would regret it as he knows how to save Green Park. He also declares Riverdale is his home and his future is how he waters the grass and shapes it.

What is Dilton’s secret?

Dilton is the super intelligent kid at school and while the gang never really understands what he is going on about, they always support and encourage him. They have a sweet friendship, and Reggie even defends him when some boys try to pick on Dilton for his colourful outfit at the fair.

Dilton is open about his affection for Reggie but no one seems to connect the dots. At the lakehouse, while playing truth or dare, he gets uncomfortable during his turn. He either has to share his biggest secret or give his beloved camera to the girls. He immediately tries to hand the camera and everyone is shocked.

They try to comfort him by letting it go but later at night, Reggie approaches. He reveals that he knows Dilton has feelings for him, but unfortunately, he cannot reciprocate. Reggie also assures him that he will not tell anyone Dilton is gay as it is his secret to tell or keep.

Does Archie choose Veronica or Betty?

With Veronica moving to London and breaking up with Archie, Betty tries her luck with him. He leads her on as well as they sort of go on a date on her birthday and she kisses him. At the fair, he declares that he has written a song for her but she is heartbroken when she sees him kiss Veronica at the lakehouse.

Meanwhile, after Veronica comes back to Riverdale, Archie tries to resume their relationship. They go on a date the day before Betty’s birthday and then kiss at the lakehouse. Like Betty, she is annoyed when he takes Cheryl to the fair but gives him a chance when he says he wrote the song for Veronica.

While Jughead tries to stop him from two-timing, Archie claims that he loves both girls and cannot choose. After a glum Veronica hangs out with Betty during Christmas, the latter confesses that she kissed Archie. Both share that they wouldn’t have made a move if they knew the other liked Archie.

They don’t understand why Archie is two-timing them and confront Jughead. He ends up spilling the truth and they then confront Archie. The girls decide that their friendship is not worth ruining over a boy and both dump him. However, they all stay friends in the end.

Why is Veronica angry with the gang?

While it is Dennis who snitches to Hiram about the gang’s plan to advertise the petition in the newspaper, Reggie and Archie think that it is Veronica. She is hurt as she did not even know that it was her father who was trying to tear down Green Park. In fact, she had even gotten her father to hire Betty’s father, Hal at the new bookshop in the Lodge Plaza, not knowing that Hiram was the reason why Hal lost his job in the first place.

However, Betty trusts Veronica and defends her. Once the gang realises that Dennis is the snitch, they try to apologise but Veronica gives them the cold shoulder. But on Christmas, she is left alone as her parents go abroad for work and she goes to Betty’s. Her family is welcoming and she decides to rejoin the gang. Reggie apologises and she forgives him as she joins Operation Save Green Park.

Do the Lodges build a hotel over Green Park?

Despite Green Park being the heart of Riverdale, the Lodges decide to expand their empire by tearing it down and building a hotel. They bribe the Council Head, Dawson along with a couple of members and sway the votes in their favour for approval. The only way to stop them is to form a petition, signed by half the population i.e., 4500 adults.

With only 45 days left before the demolition, the gang try several ways to save Green Park. First, Reggie tries to print an ad in his father’s newspaper, the Gazette. However, Dennis, one of the employees snitches to Hiram who then threatens to pull the funding of the Gazette.

With no other way to spread the word, the gang goes door to door, urging residents to sign the petition. But they only gather 1200 signatures with 4 days left. Finally, they come up with the idea to hold a fest to reach as many people as they can. Dilton invents his own radio, and using it, Jughead and Archie reach the whole town and tell everyone to show up at Green Park.

The demolition guys show up one day earlier but Veronica overhears and alerts everyone. They prepone the fest and lock themselves in the park. The Lodges are not too worried about the petition and let them be. The fest is a blast and every few hours, they send the signatures they gather to the Council.

One of the kids accidentally hands the last bunch of signatures to Dawson who hides it. The petition fails to reach the target and they lose hope. However, while Mr. Gomes sulks, the hidden signatures fall down and they recount to see that the final tally is 5400 signatures. Green Park is saved and the Lodges concede defeat.
