The Apothecary Diaries Season 1 Episode 18 will be released on Saturday 10th February at approximately 4pm (GMT) / 9am (PT) / 11am (CT). Of course, it’s dependent on how quickly the platform uploads new episodes. Expect this to be pretty close to the release time though.

What Happened In Episode 17?

In The Apothecary Diaries Season 1 Episode 17, Jinshi asks Maomao how she makes the make-up she uses for her fake freckles. Maomao explains the process to him and Jinshi tells her he wants to look like a commoner. Maomao promises to whip something up for him in the morning. Maomao arrives at Jinshi’s quarters in the morning and successfully transforms Jinshi into a commoner.

Gaoshun and Suiren convince Maomao to accompany Jinshi to his destination. Suiren gives Maomao a dress so she can disguise herself. Gaoshun drops the two off and Jinshi and Maomao go for a stroll around the district. We learn Basen’s secretly observing their developments for safety reasons, too. After grabbing some chicken skewers at a local shop, we cut to Suiren and Gaoshun.

They chat about Jinshi’s toys and allude to Maomao being Jinshi’s new favorite toy. Jinshi asks Maomao why she’s trying to rush things. Maomao says she isn’t but internally she wants to return to being a normal girl again. Then, Jinshi tells Maomao he favors palace life or life in the pleasure district. He asks Maomao for her opinion on the matter.

Maomao says she enjoys palace life but worries about Luomen’s (her adoptive father’s) well-being. She delves into Luomen’s history briefly with Jinshi. Later, she spots the place Jinshi wanted to visit and realizes why he wanted her to make him look like a commoner. Jinshi asks Maomao how someone can lower a courtesan’s value.

Despite being a touchy subject, Maomao explains the process to Jinshi. Jinshi’s shocked by the intel she shares. The episode closes with a shot of the two staring at each other.
