Stardust Telepath – Season 1 Episode 12 Recap & Review

Stardust Telepath

Episode 12 of Stardust Telepath begins with Yu, Matataki, and Haruno visiting Umika’s home. They’re greeted by Umika’s sister, who believes they’re bullies. Haruno clears things up with Umika’s sister and she apologizes. Yu and the others visit Umika in her room and she thanks them all for stopping by. Matataki apologizes to Umika for the other day, but Umika tells her everything’s okay. While Umika lies in bed, Haruno and the others assist her sister with cooking.

Umika’s sister shares details about their mother’s aquarium job. Due to overworking herself, Umika’s sister falls asleep. Matataki promises to look after her while Haruno and Yu focus on the cooking duty. Then, we cut to Umika, who is wandering a vast desert. She notices Yu giving Haruno and Matataki receiving the foreheadapathy treatment from Yu. Before Umika receives this from Yu, she awakens with Yy.

Yu tells Umika that Haruno and Matataki are cooking. Umika whispers something in her ear and Yu heads downstairs. Haruno and Matataki ask Yu what’s wrong and we learn she’s flustered because Umika asked her to give her foreheadapathy intimately. Yu tells Haruno and Matataki she’s out of forheadapathy energy. Umika’s sister wakes up from her nap and rushes to Umika’s room. She finds everyone from Umika to Yu resting inside.

Much time passes as we cut to all the girls discussing things in the lighthouse. Umika’s fully recovered from her illness but she, Haruno, and Matataki notice Yu’s acting strange. Umika’s worried Yu caught her sickness, but Yu ensures it’s not a cold. She says her foreheadapathy powers are burning up. Yu switches the topic and asks Umika about their future goals. Umika says she wants them to focus on preparing for next year’s bottle rocket championship.

However, Umika says it’d be wise for their group to get promoted to a full-fledged club. She says if they stay as a hobby group it can be difficult for them to receive permission for a launch spot. Additionally, she says it’d be wise to start earning cash. This entices Yu, Haruno, and Matataki to throw out some suggestions for Umika to jot down. Some suggestions include launching rockets at school and entering and achieving victory at smaller tournaments.

As for Umika, she wants to improve her public speaking skills and improve as a leader. Haruno says she can assist Umika with that. However, she’s upset that everyone has a goal except for her. Hearing this, Umika says they should combine everyone’s thoughts and conjure a strategy for their future activities.  At school, Umika works toward her public speaking improvement goal by reading a passage during class. Then, we see her and her friends watching the news during class.

The news reporter discusses Kei and her team’s victory. Yu reminds Umika that they should improve their bottle rocket knowledge and skills so they can compete alongside Kei and her team next year. A classmate named Kinashi notices everyone’s huddled up and asks why. One of the students says they’re watching something on bottle rocket building. Kinashi thinks it’s a bland sport. To improve her public speaking skills and impress Kinashi, Umika attempts to interest her in the sport.

Later, our girls return to the lighthouse. Umika’s worried she failed to interest Kinashi in bottle rockets. Haruno says she did a great job and lists reasons why. Suddenly, Kinashi texts Umika, informing her that she watched her footage of the bottle rocket championship with the volleyball team. Kinashi finds the sport fascinating and wishes Umika good luck. Umika, Haruno, and Matataki depart from the lighthouse. However, Umika tells the two she’s heading back because she left something behind.

Meanwhile, Haruno tells Matataki that Umika’s become stronger. Matataki reflects on her experiences with Umika but argues she’s always been a strong person. We cut to Yu singing a song on the lighthouse’s rooftop. Umika startles Yu and wonders if she’s been unwell this whole time. Umika decides to give Yu her version of forheadapathy, surprising Yu. Yu thanks Umika and reflects on the time she spent with her.

Umika tells Yu she’s still set on building a rocket that’ll allow her, Yu, Matataki, and Haruno to travel across space. Suddenly, the lighthouse’s light shines forth and we receive a montage of all the characters who had a role to play this season. The season closes with Yu and Umika connecting heads.

The Episode Review

Stardust Telepath wraps up its first season with a simple and wholesome chapter for viewers to watch during Christmas. While Umika’s morning didn’t start on a jolly note, it was touching seeing her friends and sister work together to take care of her needs. It captures the story’s overarching sense of friendship and belonging. This episode also gives fans a nice set-up for future scenarios.

From wanting to tackle small competitions to building notoriety for the bottle rocket sport, fans will adore Umika and her friends’ attempts at self-improvement here. Additionally, it was great seeing Umika act on her goals immediately in this episode. Viewers who suffer from anxiety and shyness will value Umika’s attempts at evolving her public speaking skills.

Overall, this was a compelling way to close this season off. As of this writing, Studio Gokumi hasn’t shared news on a second season for this anime. However, judging by how things left off in episode 12 and the nice reception it’s received from everyone, a continuation could occur. Hopefully, we’ll receive an announcement soon since I’m certain many people want to see Umika and her friends reach the stars sooner than later.
