The story follows a merchant named Lawrence, who explores many towns selling wonderful items. During one of his outings, he meets Holo, a girl with an animal tail who promises Lawrence rich harvests. Also, Holo wants to return home and Lawrence accepts the girl’s wishes, thus kicking off their journey.

What Happened In Episode 5?

In Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets The Wise Wolf Episode 5, Lawrence and Richten discuss Holo and the letter. Then, the two chat about Medio Trading, the Church, and why Richten should negotiate a deal with the Trenni King. After Lawrence shares brilliant insight on how Richten’s company can benefit from this deal, Richten tells Lawrence he’ll move forward with it.

Richten whispers two passwords into Lawrence’s ear and sends him off via a carriage. Lawrence and a Milone Trading Company member discuss how things will go concerning this mini-Holo rescue mission. Next, Lawrence enters an underground pathway and traverses it. After he regroups with Holo on the opposite side, the two return to the carriage to discuss things. Holo’s angry that Lawrence saved her using cowardly methods.

Also, Holo says she encountered Yarei, who didn’t have pleasant things to say during their meeting. Lawrence comforts Holo and says she should focus on achieving her dreams. Eventually, the two enter a new underground pathway and traverse it. Next, we see Yarei and his men searching for Holo and Lawrence in town. The episode closes with a close-up shot of Yarei’s face.
