The second season of Superman & Lois recently aired and if you were bowled over by the thrilling finale, you will understandably want to know if there will be a season 3.
Fortunately, we have some very good news for you.
What is Superman & Lois about?
Unsurprisingly, Superman & Lois focuses on the classic DC superhero and his wife, Lois Lane, but unlike the Dean Cain-starring Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, this foregoes the romance between the two to focus more on the family dynamic between them and their two sons.
Of course, there is plenty of action too and in season 2, much of this revolved around Superman’s battles against himself – or rather, an alternative incarnation of himself within a parallel world. We won’t reveal any further spoilers for the second season here but if you’re a fan of the comic books, you will understand more about Superman’s bizarre new nemesis!
Will Superman & Lois get a third season?
Yes, The CW has confirmed that the third season of Superman & Lois is incoming! The news was revealed earlier this year so if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll be super pleased to know that further adventures are planned.
When will Superman & Lois Season 3 be released?
The new series is expected next year, presumably at the start of the year if you’re in the US and during the Summer in the UK. This is in line with the first two seasons which aired in January and February in the US and July in the UK.
What will happen in Superman & Lois Season 3?
We don’t exactly know how Season 3 will play out but if you have seen Season 2’s finale, you will already know who the season’s ‘big bad’ will be. Stop reading now if you don’t want to read the spoiler below!
SPOILER ALERT…
John Diggle made an appearance in Season 2 and he met with John Henry Irons at Smallville’s diner. During the meeting, he handed Irons a folder containing information about Bruno Mannheim, a notorious criminal who, in the comic books at least, was the leader of the Intergang, one of Metropolis’s most powerful crime organizations.
When talking to Den Of Geek about his choice of villain and his possible impact on the show, showrunner Todd Helbing said:
“Bruno is going to be a huge part of season three and is going to be huge impact on multiple characters. And if you watch season one and season two…there are a lot of pieces in place that could take us to a certain spot. But you know, we always have to weigh that against the fact that we want the show to look cool. So there’s an affordability with certain characters. If they’re not going to look cool, then why do it. So I don’t know, it’s yet to be seen. But there’s some some crumbs that have been laid that could lead to cool places.”
Admittedly, this doesn’t give us an awful lot to go on but in the comic books, Mannheim was supplied with weaponry from the New Gods, a spacefaring race of near-immortal humanoid beings that were native to the extra-dimensional planet of Apokolips. As such, he could pose quite a threat to Superman if he is armed with weapons from these powerful foes.
Is there a trailer for Superman & Lois Season 3?
Filming on the new season will begin in September so there is no trailer yet. You can probably expect a trailer to land towards the end of the year so there isn’t too long to wait if you want to get a glimpse of the third season ahead of release.
