Has Black Bird been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Black Bird is inspired by real events. This is a tense, nail-biting prison drama with some excellent characterisation and some fantastic acting.

What is Black Bird Season 1 about?

Black Bird is an intriguing and well written thriller, based on a true story no less. The tale centers on Jimmy Keene, who is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison but he cuts a deal with the FBI to befriend a suspected serial killer called Larry.

Specifically, he needs to find out where Larry may have hidden up to 18 bodies of dead women. But time is of the essence, as Larry looks close to being released.

We have extensive coverage on Black Bird across the site, including ongoing recaps for all 6 episodes, which you can find HERE.

Has Black Bird been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, AppleTV+ has not renewed Black Bird for season 2. Given Apple’s track record for renewing a lot of its shows, it’ll be interesting to see if they do renew this one.

Both critic and audience reviews have been great for this season but the ending is pretty conclusive. Not only that, but given this is a true story, there’s not many places this could go unless it ditches the “true story” part and doubles down on a more fictitious story should Apple decide to green-light this one.

Given the ending and the fact this works as a standalone miniseries, we predict that Black Bird will not be renewed for season 2.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing. Given Apple’s great track record with renewals, we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to renew this for another season.

It’s likely that Black Bird will not be renewed though, given the conclusiveness of the story. However, if that changes then we’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.
