Renewed Or Cancelled?
Doctor Slump is the newest medical drama on Netflix and it’s been quite the wild ride. If you’ve been following this one over the weeks, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Doctor Slump Season 1 about?
“Haven can’t have two suns, nor can a school have two top students.” summarises the relationship of our leads, Yeo Jung-Woo played by Park Hyung-sik, and Nam Ha-Neul played by Park Shin-hye. Jung-woo and Ha-neul have been rivals since their high school days.
Years later, one is an celebrated plastic surgeon and the other an aspiring professor. Things would have been simpler only if life traversed the path we designed for it. Likewise, the two star students find themselves in the deepest slump of their lives as they cross paths once again. Would fate put these two beaten souls back in order? Has Doctor Slump been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed Doctor Slump for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.
The ratings began with a pretty decent 4% share nationwide but since then, the show has grown with more recent weeks hitting around 6.3%.
Despite the ratings, it’s extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season. That has changed in recent years but given the sheer wealth of talent in this that are sure to move onto other projects, we predict that Doctor Slump will not be renewed for a second season.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these renewed. With the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.
Having said that though, we have seen Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed renewed recently, alongside Alchemy of Souls too. Given how steady the ratings are for this series, could we see this one buck the trend? It seems very unlikely in all honesty.
There is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up for a sequel or a spin-off featuring the same characters but considering all of this, we believe this will not be renewed.
