Remnant 2 Boss Guide: How to beat The Corruptor

Remnant 2 Boss Guide: How to Beat The Corruptor

Remnant 2 is the latest Souls-like game, complete with procedurally generated dungeons and plenty of difficult boss fights along the way. These bosses can be challenging and really test your skills. Fret not though, our boss guides can help you get through even the toughest challenges that Remnant 2 throws at you.

The Corruptor is a compulsory boss found in the Yaesha territory and, more specifically, The Great Bole. Despite The Corruptor’s gigantic size, it’s actually rather docile for the most part, save for one repeating devastating move, but it is surrounded by winged creatures that will attack when you get too close.

Unfortunately, it’s also fronted by a robotic Guardian with four arms that can do some serious damage if you’re not careful.

As a quick heads-up, you’ll want to make sure the Hot Shot mod is attached to your preferable weapon, and you want a combo of long-range shooting and close-combat hits too. It’s also preferable to take off most of your heavy armour so your weight is on the lower end of green or blue.

Boss Fight – The Corruptor

Tips for beating

The Corruptor is a deceptive fight because on the surface, it actually looks like quite a simple affair. To begin with, The Corruptor is docile and won’t put up too much of a fight. As you whittle down that health bar though, things become a lot more intense.

There are three different platforms in the arena, and you can fall to your death if you’re not careful. Not only do you need to watch out for that, The Corruptor also has a nasty beam attack that will completely destroy your health if you’re caught.

The method we used requires a good deal of sprinting and dodge-rolling, hence our earlier suggestion of going in light with the armour! The Guardian is the real heavy-hitter here and he has some devastating attacks you want to watch out for. They are as follows:

Floating Hands: The Guardian will detach both top arms, one after another, that will track you. Both will slash at you with swords. Tale these out as they approach you with your close-combat gun.

Slashing Attack: The Guardian’s special move will see him utilize all four arms, slashing wildly in front. He’ll continue to advance on your location until you either dodge out the way or are hit. Your best bet is to dodge-roll between his legs. You need to time this just right though, otherwise Guardian will do a lot of damage.

Jumping Shockwave: If the Guardian is on a different platform to you, he’ll jump across and smash the ground, sending rippling shockwaves your way.

Phase 1

As soon as you step into the arena, don’t fire at the Guardian approaching. Instead, point your long-range gun at the mass Corruptor behind and fire off some rounds. When the Guardian gets a bit closer, he’ll start using his moves. Shoot down both floating hands and fire off some rounds at the Guardian’s head. This is his weak spot, and he’ll open up the stone exterior to show his glowing orange interior. He’ll do this when he stops at the end of the arena and re-attach his arms. This is your cue to fire away!

Your weapon should do lots of damage but it’s imperative here that you leave a sliver of health. There should be enough left that you can fire off half a round to take him out.

Once you’ve done that, ignore the Guardian and run all the way up to the other side of the arena to the Corruptor. Unleash as many bullets as possible into the orange mouth of the creature. Swing the camera around to watch for the Guardian but you should be able to get two full rounds off in quick succession.

If you’ve done enough damage, The Corruptor will wind up his devastating Beam Attack. Given how close you are, jump over to the platform on your right, and rush up to the other stairwell at the far end.

At this point the Guardian will be stalking you. Take out the Guardian’s arms as they approach but as we haven’t downed the Guardian yet, he’ll only fire off his top two arms. You;ll understand why this is important in Phase 2! Watch out for Guardian’s jumping shockwave ability though!

After getting back to the middle platform, switch to a long-range gun and fire rounds off at Corruptor again. You may only be able to get 4 or 5 tops but it all counts! Immediately jump to the platform on the left and rush all the way down to the next set of stairs.

The aim here is to use this method of jumping between platforms, hitting random bursts of gunfire at the Corruptor without touching the Guardian for as long as you can. Eventually though you will need to take out the Guardian, so when you’re ready, change your tactic and down the Guardian.

Phase 2

The Corruptor will leave its spot and levitate in the air, hovering over the Guardian and reviving him. At this point witch to your favourite weapon, activate the Hot Shot mod and fire away at the underbelly of The Corruptor. Watch out for the flying creatures though, as they’ll swoop down and take potshots at you. However, this should do a lot of damage.

The length of Phase 2 will determine how well you’ve managed to fare against the Corruptor. Those Beam Attacks will have taken out a good chunk of stone columns hiding bullets behind so be sure to reload while sprinting from platform to platform.

Timing the jumps  so you essentially crisscross the Guardian and avoid getting hit by the Corruptor’s Beam Attack is the key but you may find yourself getting caught by the floating arms here..

This second Phase will see the Guardian now fire off all four of his hands. Two of them will hit you with projectiles from afar and will glow blue. Take these out first, while the Corruptor will now move much more freely and frequently between the three platforms. He’ll also wind up the Beam Attacks much quicker too.

Whenever you jump over to a new platform, it’s imperative that you get to the next staircase as quickly as possible before unloading offense on either the Guardian or The Corruptor.

When Corruptor only has a sliver of health left, focus all your firepower on him no matter what – even if you only have a tiny bit of health left. Once you take out the Corruptor, the Guardian will stop attacking so the big boss should be your number 1 priority here.

Final Tips

The Corruptor is definitely one of the most deceptive bosses in the game because it really doesn’t look tough until you put all the elements together. Melee is about as useful as a chocolate teapot here so ignore that completely. When you defeat The Corruptor, you’ll be rewarded with the Twisted Lazurite material that can be used in crafting.
