Palm Royale – Season 1 Episode 3 “Maxine Like a Dellacorte” Recap & Review

Maxine Like a Dellacorte

At the start of Palm Royale Episode 3, we are in the past timeline. We get a glimpse of Norma while she’s well. We watch her sitting on her bed and writing invitations. Following this, she yells out to Robert, requesting that he stop being upset with her.

In the present timeline, we see Maxine lounging by the pool. At this point, reality dawns on her as her landlord begins to throw her clothes and belongings in the pool.

Immediately after this, Maxine makes her way to Mitzi’s salon to get her nails done. After that, Mitzi informs Maxine that she has appeared on the cover of the Shiny Sheet. This truly makes Maxine happy. 

Following this, Maxine heads over to Grayman’s boutique. The elite ladies are present there as well. Now that she has made it to the cover of the Shiny Sheet, Maxine is ecstatic about the fact that she has achieved this. Dinah, on the other hand, is able to dull her sparkle by pushing her to invite them to her house. Immediately after this, Maxine extends an invitation to the women to visit the Dellacorte Mansion in the evening.

Following this, Maxine heads over to Dellacorte Mansion to make preparations. She then clashes with Robert yet again and asks him to leave. On the other hand, Robert persistently refuses to leave, asserting that he is Norma’s caretaker. After that, Maxine goes to see Linda and requests her help with putting together a platter for the guests because she is quite skilled.

During the cocktail party, the guests begin to ask Maxine for separate drinks, one by one. She goes to Robert to plead for his help, and when she arrives, she finds Linda there with him, who has been keeping him company. Instead of agreeing to help Maxine, he simply tells her to use the recipe book.

Following this, Maxine makes drinks for the ladies by herself. Following that, Evelyn and the other ladies bring up the forthcoming Beach Ball event and inquire about Maxine’s preparations for the event. When Maxine begins to talk about her plans for the event, they begin to laugh. In addition, the ladies insist that Maxine pay the money for the auction.

As the episode draws to a close, Evelyn stays back at Dellacorte Mansion, while the other ladies leave following the cocktail party. Following that, she asks if Maxine has any money at all. At first, Maxine lies, but Evelyn can see right through her. Evelyn then tells Maxine that she will host the Beach Ball event at Dellacorte Mansion. After this, Maxine reveals to Evelyn that she is aware of the fact that she is also experiencing difficulties. Following that, she makes a plea that they collaborate.

During the closing moments of the episode, Evelyn tells Maxine to find the key to the safe deposit box of the Rolodex. She then says that the only way for them to have a deal is if she is able to accomplish that.

After returning home later that day, Douglas has sex with Maxine. On the other hand, as Linda leaves, she overhears Douglas and Maxine’s conversation.

The Episode Review

The third episode features Maxine on the cover of Shiny Sheet magazine. To impress the ladies, Maxine hosts a cocktail party. Maxine and Norma decide to work together, as they’re both struggling. Douglas returns home.

The storyline of the show has gotten slightly better, and the pacing has improved compared to the previous episodes. While the show continues to be shallow, it’s gotten slightly interesting at this point. While the show isn’t doing well, it has certainly improved compared to the previous two episodes, which were frankly sub-par.

Even though the show features outstanding performers playing the roles of the characters, the writing of the show is not up to par. We hope things pick up going forward and live up to the hype.
