Movies and Shows coming to Paramount+ UK in September 2023

The fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks will be beaming down onto Paramount + this month. New legal thriller The Killing Kind is also making its way onto the streaming service, as is the second season of the 70s-set comedy Minx.

September 1

Babylon (2022)

Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Olivia Wilde star in this sprawling tale of excess set in Hollywood during the roaring ’20s when cinema was transitioning from silent to sound movies. Damien Chazzelle’s film traces the rise and fall of several ambitious dreamers during this era of unbridled decadence and depravity, including Robbie’s “it girl” Nellie LaRoy who uses more than her natural talents to rise to fame.

September 5

Love Rats – Season 2 (Volume 1)

The dating world is full of conmen and catfishers as this documentary unveils. Season 2 exposes more ‘love rats’ – the scam artists who have targetted innocent people looking for love. 

September 7

Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 4 

Set in the 24th Century, this adult animated television series follows the adventures of the “lower deckers,” the low-ranking officers of the starship Cerritos, one of Starfleet’s least important starships. 

Here’s the synopsis for season 4:

“An unknown force is destroying starships and threatening galactic peace. Luckily, the crew of the USS Cerritos isn’t important enough for stuff like that! Instead, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford, and provisional Ensign T’Lyn are keeping up with their Starfleet duties, avoiding malevolent computers and getting stuck in a couple of caves- all while encountering new and classic aliens along the way.”

The Killing Kind – Season 1

This thrilling drama series, based on the bestselling novel by Jane Casey, centres on a barrister named Ingrid Lewis who defends a businessman named John Webster who has been accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend. When Ingrid wins the case and starts a relationship with James, her life is thrown into turmoil when she recognizes his true nature. 

Here’s the official synopsis:

“The Killing Kind – based on the book of the same name – explores themes of murder, suspicion, crime, acts of stalking and paranoia in a high stakes cat and mouse game between lead Ingrid Lewis (played by Emma Appleton) and her former client John Webster (played by Colin Morgan) while she uncovers the truth behind the distressing events taking place.”

September 8

80 For Brady (2023)

Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno star in this ‘inspired by a true story’ movie about four best friends (and New England Patriots fans) who take a life-changing trip to the Super Bowl L1 to catch a glimpse of their hero, Tom Brady. Chaos ensues!

September 14

The Gold – Season 1

Hugh Bonneville, Dominic Cooper, Jack Lowden, and Charlotte Spencer are among the cast of this British crime drama which covers the events of the Brinks-Mat Robbery that took place at a warehouse near Heathrow Airport in 1983.

September 21

Minx – Season 2

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, this comedy series centres around Joyce, an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women.

Here’s the official synopsis for Season 2:

“After Doug and Joyce sell Bottom Dollar to a retired shipping magnate with unlimited money and power, Minx becomes a commercial success, bringing more money, more fame and more temptations. Under new leadership, Doug struggles to find his footing and maintain his control within Bottom Dollar.

Meanwhile, Joyce begins to lose sight of her core beliefs as she gets caught up in her rise to stardom. As our Bottom Dollar misfits go mainstream, they start to question who they’re becoming and what they really want from this newfound success.”
