Dear Evan Hansen (2021)

The Flatmate – Season 1

Unusual comedy-drama about two strangers who share an apartment but due to a schedule they create, they never actually meet one another and communicate only with post-it notes. Jessica Brown Findlay and Anthony Welsh are the flatmates with the unique living situation.

F9: The Fast Saga (2021)

Remember when the Fast and the Furious movies were about street racing? Those days are long gone as this entry in the long-running franchise proves as its plot – Dom and the crew take on an international terrorist – is more like an action-packed Bond movie.

Old (2021)

If you’re planning a beach holiday this summer, you might want to avoid the secluded beach that the people in this movie go to as one foot on these sands will see you become older with each passing minute. This isn’t the best movie from director M. Night Shyamalan but it’s creepy premise will hold your attention.

The Darkest Minds (2018)

Based on the YA novel by Alexandra Bracken, this dystopian sci-fantasy stars Amandla Stenberg as Ruby, a survivor of a disease that wipes out 98% of the younger members of the population. After developing superpowers, she is locked up in an internment facility with other superpowered teens. The movie, which didn’t become the start of an expected franchise, follows their escape attempt from the government forces that are trying to hold them captive.

The Revenant (2015)

Alejandro G. Iñárritu won the Academy Award for Best Director for this wilderness survival film and deservedly so. This is an expertly crafted thriller about one man’s fight to survive in harsh wintry terrain after being left for dead by his hunting team. The bear attack is a standout moment in this brutal, visceral masterpiece.

August 10

Copshop (2021)

Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo star in this reasonably entertaining thriller about a rookie cop and a con artist who are forced to face off against a lethal assassin who arrives at the titular police station looking for the latter. This isn’t as tense or as exciting as Assault On Precinct 13 which had a similar plotline but there are a few thrilling moments during the movie’s runtime.

August 18

Puppy Love (2023)

Lucy Hale and Grant Gustin star in this romantic comedy about two mismatched people who vow to lose one another’s phone numbers after a disastrous first date. But when their dogs start to fall for one another, this unlikely pair also begin to develop feelings for one another.
