See How They Run (2022)

Release Date: July 1

Where To Watch: Hulu

Hercule Poirot isn’t around for this murder mystery (he’s taking a much-needed vacation on the river Nile), but world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) are on hand to work out whodunnit when a cast member of the West End play The Mousetrap is found murdered backstage.

This isn’t quite as amusing or gripping as it could have been but Ronan saves the movie with her spirited performance.

Bird Box Barcelona (2023)

Release Date: July 14

Where To Watch: Netflix

Bird Box Barcelona is a spin-off to the 2018 Netflix movie Bird Box, which starred Sandra Bullock.

That previous title didn’t tell the story of a woman and the sacrifices she went through to feed the birds in her neighbourhood! It was a post-apocalyptic chiller about one woman’s battle to protect her family from a mysterious force that caused anybody who set their eyes on it to take their own lives.

This new film is set during the same timeline as the original movie and follows a man named Sebastian and his young daughter Anna as they try to survive the unseen threat that is taking over the lives of the people in their city.

They Cloned Tyrone (2023)

Release Date: July 21

Where To Watch: Netflix

John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx star in this pulpy sci-fi mystery caper about an unlikely trio who investigate an eerie series of events and discover a vast underground complex where a government–backed lab is performing experiments on the local Black population.

Knock At The Cabin (2023)

Release Date: July 25

Where To Watch: Amazon Prime Video

The latest movie from M. Night Shyamalan isn’t the worst movie he has made but it’s still not the return to form that many of us were hoping for. We called this thriller “ambiguously mediocre” in our Knock At The Cabin review but it’s still better than The Happening, which is the director’s biggest misfire to date.

The premise of the movie plays closely to the home invasion thrillers we have seen before but in true Shyamalan fashion, it has a twist that you might not see coming. The movie centers around a young girl and her two dads who are vacationing at their family cabin. But their peaceful time together is interrupted by a group of armed strangers (including Dave Bautista) who arrive at their vacation home with an ominous warning about an impending apocalypse.

God’s Country (2022)

Release Date: July 28

Where To Watch: Hulu

Thandie Newton stars in this acclaimed thriller as a college professor who is drawn into a battle of wills after she catches two hunters trespassing on her property.

Hidden Strike (2023)

Release Date: July 28

Where To Watch: Netflix

Jackie Chan and John Cena star in this new action comedy about a retired Chinese military soldier-turned-private-security-contractor and a former American marine who team up to escort a group of civilians along Baghdad’s “Highway of Death” to the safety of the Green Zone.

The Beanie Bubble (2023)

Release Date: July 28

Where To Watch: Apple TV+

Did you have a Beanie Baby when you were growing up? These stuffed animal toys were extremely popular in the ’90s and if you have one in your attic, you could be sitting on a potential fortune as the rarest Beanies are worth thousands!

This new film stars Zach Galifianakis as Ty Warner, the billionaire toy manufacturer responsible for these soft plushies, and it details his collaboration with the three women who grew his initial idea into the biggest toy craze in history.

The Slumber Party (2023)

Release Date: July 28

Where To Watch: Disney+

After a sleepover birthday party hypnotism goes wrong, best friends Megan and Paige, and their soon-to-be step-sister Veronica, wake up with absolutely no memory of the night before. What happened to birthday girl Anna Maria, who has somehow gone missing? Why is there a flock of ducks in the bathtub? And why is Megan wearing unattainable hottie Jake Ramirez’s signature black hoodie? “It’s a long, weird story” according to this movie’s poster so expect to know more when this new family comedy lands on this date.

Bones And All (2022)

Release Date: July 31

Where To Watch: Paramount+

Taylor Russell (Waves) and Timothée Chalamet (Dune) star in this grisly romantic horror movie about a young woman and a drifter who both share an appetite for human flesh. For all the blood and guts that are on display during the movie’s runtime, this is a tender love story about two lonely young people who crave affection as much as they do their next meal.
