Masters of the Air Season 1 Episode 4 Preview: Release Date, Time & Where To Watch

Masters of the Air Season 1 Episode 4

Masters of Air marks the first production venture of Apple Studios, the digital arm of Apple Inc. Made at a budget of almost $250 million, the limited series is one of the most expensive productions in streaming history. Expectations are sky-high given the pedigree of the makers and the personnel involved creatively. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s involvement is bolstered by the presence of the creators behind the 2001 HBO series, Band of Brothers

Both shows are closely related to each other in terms of style, storytelling, and narrative essentials. Masters of Air has a humongous cast with star names like Austin Butler, Callum Turner, and Barry Keoghan. The plot follows the 100th Bomb Squad’s (8th US Air Force) valiant sacrifice in testing times during the Second World War.

We are excited to bring you coverage of all the episodes in Season 1 with episodic recaps and preview articles for each new episode, assisting you to keep up with the unfolding drama.

What happened in Episode 3?

Episode 3 of Masters of the Air begins with the promise of the biggest air strike ever attempted in modern warfare history. Colonel Harding briefs the unit with the mission that aims to land a telling blow to the Germans that will take them months to recover from. On this occasion, the 8th Air Force will be targeting several ball-bearing production lines in three German cities. These small yet significant instruments go into every machine; without them, they cannot function.

The 8th will be divided into three task forces, each playing a distinct role in achieving this goal. The first task force will be targeting the factory in Regensburg. One of the 100th will lead the charge. However, this task force will also have to face the heaviest brunt of Kraut resistance.

From the Abbots and Thorpe Air Field, they will be flying further South to Telergma in Africa. Harding also informs the boys, to their utter disappointment, that they will be flying Tail-end Charlie, meaning that they will be the most exposed to enemy fire in the air. Dense fog and dreadful weather conditions delay the takeoff. Eventually, they get the green light from Command and off they go.

However, Harding is informed that the second and third task forces will be hours late, sending the first one to a death match. Their no-show leads the first task force on a disastrous path. All planes except nine badly wounded planes make it to Africa. Even with the huge number of casualties, the 100th completes the mission and bombs the production facilities.

Curt Biddick’s plane is lost and he is unable to make it out in time. Cleven’s plane suffers major engine failures and damage. Instead of bailing, he forces the crew to remain in the plane and comes up with smart moves to remain in the air. Ultimately, he is able to successfully guide them to the African coast.
