Loot – Season 2 Episode 6 “Women Who Rule” Recap & Review

Women Who Rule

In Loot Season 2 Episode 6, Sofia shows up to work in casual wear for the first time. It turns out, she slept over at Isaac’s and forgot to bring a change of clothes. The team teases her about things getting serious between them, but she insists their relationship is strictly casual.

That’s why it shocks her when Isaac offers to buy her a ticket to go with him to the Hollywood Bowl. Thinking he’s trying to move too fast, Sofia tells him this isn’t working.

Meanwhile, the team persuades Molly to participate as a model in LA Fashion Week, themed “Women Who Rule.” She agrees, but when her stylist assumes that Howard is her son, she starts feeling her age, and her confidence drops.

Nicholas then offers to put her through an intense and painful beauty regimen to get Molly feeling young and beautiful again. At the end of it, the other models compliment Molly on how fantastic she looks and treat her like she’s young again.

Unfortunately, this involves TikTok dances and headstands, which Molly can’t handle. When one of the other models notices her sweating profusely, she offers her a supplement, swearing it’s mostly herbal. Molly takes it gladly.

After settling on what to wear thanks to some advice from Howard, Arthur arrives at the show wearing the same outfit as the security guards. He’s embarrassed at first, but this allows him to escort one of the models backstage, and she ends up asking for his number.

Thanks to the mysterious pill, when Molly walks on stage, she’s incredibly high. She has to be escorted off stage and taken to the hospital. The same model who offered her the pill ends up there as well, and when she asks Molly to be in one of her videos, Molly refuses. Maybe it’s time to act her age.

When Sofia gets home from the show, Isaac is there waiting for her. He doesn’t realize they have broken up. Telling her he doesn’t want to break up, Isaac says they can go slow. Realizing how much she loves what they have, Sofia agrees, and they go inside together.

The Episode Review

Oh, Sofia. Her freak out about commitment with Isaac is very in-character for her, and Michaela Jae Rodriguez plays it well. The chemistry between her and O-T Fagbenle is also lovely, despite their little screen time together. Unfortunately, this plot point just felt half-baked overall, as little time was allotted to explore and resolve Sofia’s problems with commitment.

Arthur’s moment in the spotlight is short as well, but it works here, and it’s lovely to see someone immediately clock his kindness. Are we seeing the start of another love triangle, I wonder?

As for Molly’s arc, I might find it hard to get invested in her mid-life crisis–except for the fact that it’s hard to look away from Maya Rudolph. And once again, it seems that Loot has lost the plot of its anti-billionaire focus when Nicholas reminds Molly she has billions to spend on her beauty regimen, and nobody blinks an eye. Isn’t her goal right now to give that money away?
