What Happened In Episode 3?

Episode 3 of Kaiju No. 8 picks things up where the previous chapter left off with Kikoru interrogating Kafka on his kaiju odor. Fortunately, Reno helps Kafka resolve that issue and Kafka vows to outshine Kikoru during the competition. Later, we see Kafka and the others partake in the selection test’s fitness trial. Kafka performs poorly unlike Kikoru and others.

Then, we get introduced to Hoshina, who informs Kafka and the others about the selection test’s aptitude trial. He gives an informative speech and leads them all to an area with Defense Corps combat suits. These suits will help them survive and defeat the yoju in the second portion’s test area. Then, he leads our participants to the test area, gives them a brief spiel, hands them firearms, and starts the test.

Next, Kikoru demonstrates admirable feats. Meanwhile, Kafka and Reno demonstrate proper coordination skills since they feel it’d make them look stellar in front of Mina and the others. While all goes well for the two, a yoju severely wounds Kafka. Fortunately, Kikoru saves Kafka but belittles him seconds later. Then, Hoshina urges Kafka to quit. The episode closes with Kafka telling Hoshina and the others that he doesn’t want to.

We’ve covered the entire episode with a lengthy recap that touches on all major plot points and discusses the chapter with an accompanying review. You can find that link below.
