Heeramandi — Episode 6 “Tajdar & Alamzeb – Nation v/s Love” Recap & Review

Tajdar & Alamzeb – Nation v/s Love

Episode 6 of Heeramandi starts with Mallikajaan packing up to leave for a short trip. Waheeda makes sarcastic remarks about Mallikajaan leaving Alamzeb with Tajdar. In her absence, Mallikajaan entrusts Bibbojaan with the keys to the Shahi Mahal. This further angers Waheeda. Meanwhile, Tajdar takes Alamzeb to his late mother’s ancestral home.

There, Tajdar’s uncle is upset with him for fleeing with a courtesan’s daughter. Tajdar asks his mother’s family to be respectful of Alamzeb who was a guest at their house. Tajdar’s family is unhappy with Alamzeb’s presence in their house and they conclude that she is trying to woo him over with her courtesan charms.

At the same time, Waheeda takes out Rehana’s case file from where she had buried it at the Shahi Mahal. She takes the file to Fareedan and the two meet Ustaadji, urging him to take the file to Cartwright. Ustaadji reveals that Cartwright was away for a business trip and would not be back for the next 15 days.

Waheeda gets worried and is sure that Mallikajaan will do something to cause a problem. Fareedan asks Waheeda to trust her. Meanwhile, Tajdar gets an earful from Hamid for being too distracted by Alamzeb. Alamzeb overhears the conversation and promises to never enter  Tajdar’s room again.

On the other hand, Mallikajaan learns all about Fareedan’s crimes from when she was sent away to Benaras. Zulfikar tells Mallikajaan that Fareedan was involved in multiple murders over the years and gives her photo evidence against Fareedan. Meanwhile, Fareeda is excited to meet Mallikajaan and wishes to see her aunt tend to her.

Mallikajaan shows up at Khwabgah and shows Fareedan the evidence of her crimes. Fareedan panics and destroys all the evidence incriminating Mallikajaan for Rehana’s murder. At her court, Mallikajaan asks her servants to prepare for Shama’s debut. She reveals that Shama would take her place as the head courtesan.

Waheeda is shattered to learn that she was betrayed by Fareedan too and goes back to Mallikajaan’s court. Waheeda begs for her forgiveness and agrees to follow Mallikajaan’s commands.

The next day, Shama is getting her outfits stitched for her debut. There, Nawab Feroze asks Shama to join him but Waheeda shows up there to stop him from taking his daughter away. She tells the nobleman that Shama is soon to take Mallikajaan’s place and will not entertain a good-for-nothing man like him.

That night, Iqbal is freed from prison and arrives at Mallikajaan’s court. He asks Mallikajaan to give him another chance to marry Saima. Mallikajaan tells Iqbal that Saima had fled with Wajid on the night of his arrest which breaks his heart. The next day, Tajdar goes to bid Alamzeb farewell before his short trip. He realises that Alamzeb is still upset with him but makes it back home later the next day.

Tajdar calls Alamzeb to his room to give her the gifts he had brought for her but she refuses to enter his room. At the same time, Bibbojaan is with Mr Henderson when she learns all about the British Army’s plans to steal guns and ammunition. Hamid calls Tajdar to relay the information about the British Army’s plans. Tajdar tells him that he is ready for their next mission.

Tajdar plots and convinces Alamzeb to come to his room. There, he asks her to marry him and Alamzeb agrees. That night, Bibbojaan meets Tajdar for a freedom fighters meeting. She asks him about Alamzeb and learns that Tajdar is going to marry Alamzeb soon. Tajdar uses the wedding announcement ceremony to invite the British cops and sabotage their plan.

Fareedan shows up at the celebration and looks for Alamzeb. However, she ends up in Tajdar’s room and finds the documents about his involvement with the freedom fighters. On her way out, she runs into Alamzeb who calls her out for betraying her. At the same time, the British army rushes to collect the guns and ammunition but they are stolen by the freedom fighters.

Later that night, Cartwright is in bed with Fareedan when he is informed about the ammunition being stolen by the freedom fighters. Fareedan tells Cartwright that he will find the ammunition at Tajdar’s maternal house. In exchange for the information, she asks Cartwright to continue to investigate Mallikajaan and Zulfikar for the murder of her mother.

The next morning, Cartwright raids Tajdar’s house. Alamzeb rushes to Tajdar’s room to hide the evidence but Cartwright shows up there and arrests her instead of Tajdar. Tajdar learns about Alamzeb’s arrest and grows restless. Hamid asks Tajdar to calm down and think about the future of the country before that of his own family. Cartwright brings Mr Baloch and Tajdar to the station.

The cops bring Alamzeb out and interrogate her. Cartwright tells Mr Baloch that if Alamzeb does not confess to being a freedom fighter, the Baloch family’s relationship with the British army will be at stake. Alamzeb lies to Cartwright and confesses that the files and documents belonged to her. Tajdar lies to Cartwright as well and rids himself of the blame over the documents.

Tajdar claims that noblemen like him never marry courtesans like Alamzeb. The episode ends with Alamzeb being sent into custody as she burns the handkerchief with Tajdar’s name on it.

The Episode Review

Out of all the people on the show, the most helpless character is Alamzeb. Not only did she flee from her house for a lover who did not desire her, but now she has ended up being blamed for a freedom struggle that she did not want any part in. From the way this episode has ended, we can expect Alamzeb to be rescued by Mallikajaan.

In exchange for her freedom from the cops, we can also expect Alamzeb to finally make her debut as a courtesan. With her heart shattered all thanks to Tajdar letting her take the blame for his mistakes, Alamzeb doesn’t have a purpose in life.

This again ruins Waheeda’s plans as her daughter would no longer be the head courtesan of the Shahi Mahal. With all that being said, we can expect Bibbojaan to dive headfirst into the freedom struggle in the next episode as the show comes to its end.
