Expats Season 1 Episode 5 Preview: Release Date, Time & Where To Watch

Expats Season 1 Episode 5

Prime Video’s new drama show Expats is expected to be the platform’s prestige drama. Expats made its debut on the streaming platform on 26th January.

The new show is created by Lulu Wang based on the 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee. The series will mark Wang’s first venture after the highly acclaimed The Farewell (2019). The first two episodes got a mixed reaction from viewers, although the critics praised them.

Expats features a stellar star cast, led by Nicole Kidman, who will be gunning to replicate her brilliance from similar works like Special Ops and Bangkok Hilton. Jack Huston and Brian Tee are also attached to the roster. Expats promises more than just thrills and frills, given the intricate nature of the source novel. It will be interesting to see what parts of Lee’s works are brought to life and tied up in a cinematic narrative.

We are excited to bring you coverage of all the episodes in Season 1 with episodic recaps and preview articles for each new episode, assisting you to keep up with the unfolding drama.

Here is everything you need to know about Expats episode 5, including its release date, time, and where you can watch this.

Where Can I Watch Expats?

Expats will be available to watch on Prime Video for our viewers in the US, UK, and Canada. Since the platform has an international presence and mostly works on Netflix’s principle of one release date, the series will be released in most geographies covered. Presently, we are not aware of any more streaming options other than those mentioned above.

Expats Episode 5 Release Date

Expats Episode 5 will be released on Friday 16th February at 9 pm (ET)/(PT). How Many Episodes Will Expats Have?

Season 1 of Expats will have a total of 6 episodes. After the fifth episode has aired, we will be only left with the finale of the show, which will be available to stream on 23rd February.

What happened in Episode 4?

Episode 4 of Expats is made up of three varying subplots. They focus on the core characters and their struggles in life. All three take place in a boxed room. Mercy and David’s playful fling is at a critical juncture. Mercy is rethinking her life decisions and feels that perhaps being with David isn’t permanent. She will have to move on from him soon enough. David, though, isn’t concerned.

His marriage is certainly over with Hilary but he has no idea what lies next. Given his privileged position, he doesn’t have to care. They engage in an insulting contest where they bring up truths of each other’s life as foreplay to a passionate lovemaking session. However, David crosses the line by bringing up Gus, forcing her to retreat into the bathroom. When David mentions how he paralyzed his twin brothers when they were young kids, she feels relieved. She isn’t the only messy person in the room anymore.

Things take a stark turn when Mercy and David learn that she is pregnant. Hilary cannot have kids. Speaking of her, Hilary welcomes her overbearing mother, Brinder, from India. While taking the lift at The Peak, the duo gets stuck along with another neighbour, Tilda. The maintenance crew works hard but it will be hours before they are able to leave.

Without considering Tilda’s presence, Brinder goes hard at Hilary for her refusal to start a family and see her sick father at home. Hilary, who remains patient for a long time, finally fires back at Brinder for tolerating her father’s infidelity and abuse for years to hold the family together.

Margaret and Clarke discover at the coroner’s office that the body is Gus’ but have differing reactions to it. Their marriage is stable in comparison but Gus’ disappearance has dealt a body blow. Margaret does not believe that the body is Gus’ but Clarke, who is more in line with reality, breaks down into tears.
