Deadloch – Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review

Episode 5

In Deadloch episode 5, Dulcie, Abby, and Eddie talk about the investigation in the back seat of a truck whilst Cath is driving. They are in the truck in order to escape the media as they enter the workplace. The door at the back is shut though, and the press notices them. Thereafter, Ray rings them to inform them that another corpse was discovered.

When Eddie and Dulcie get there, they find Jimmy hanging dead. His corpse is bound to a crucifix by chains. In a fit over the manner in which they are dealing with the case, Commissioner Hastings rings Dulcie and yells at her. He promises to provide them with whatever they require but warns that he will be sending another set of investigators if they don’t find a suspect soon.

Abby goes to Jimmy’s house to look through his cell phone to find out who he had spoken to before he passed away. Thereafter, she finds out he called Vanessa more than 30 times before passing away. When Dulcie and Redcliffe talk to Vanessa, she says that she hadn’t seen Jimmy at all and that he had an obsession with her.

Despite the fact that the case is more likely to involve a woman, Mike Nugent is identified as somebody with a motive as the inquiry goes on. It is revealed that the reason he didn’t undergo testing was that he had to take somebody to the medical facility. Thereafter, Redcliffe and Dulcie set out to look for him.

Mike is questioned by Dulcie and Redcliffe regarding where he was on the evening of the killings. Redcliffe says they discovered evidence in his flat that connect him to the killings. They then bring up the drug that was discovered, which he claims belonged to his mom. Quickly after the questioning, it is discovered the man’s alibi checked out on the evening of Rod’s murder, freeing him of the crime.

A drunk Cath is picked up by Dulcie and brought home. She makes her way to the station after putting two and two together after reading something in the local paper. While this is going on, Detective Redcliffe reviews the list of those that Mike had stopped on the evening of his alibi and finds S. O’Dwyer on it.

Vanessa is sitting at the bar telling Megan about a person who detested all of those who ended up murdered while the detectives are trying to identify the potential killer. As the episode comes to a close, it is revealed that Skye O’Dwyer, the child of Sam O’Dwyer, could be the serial killer.

The Episode Review

Another corpse shows up in Deadloch and the hunt heats up as a ruthless killer strikes yet again. Pressure is coming from above for Detective Redcliffe and Dulcie to arrest a suspect quickly or risk losing their jobs. Meanwhile, we are taken on a wild and twisted journey by the writers as they identify the potential serial killer.

We remain glued to our seats as the show goes on. Detective Redcliffe, however, continues to distract us from the case with her unpleasant behavior. On the other hand, Detective Dulcie is the exact opposite and is not in any way interesting, making it difficult to root for any character.
