Code 8 Part 2 (2024) Ending Explained – Why is King after Pavani?

Code 8 Part 2 Plot Summary

“Code 8 Part 2” is a 2024 film and an addition to the franchise, featuring a strong cast including Robbie Amell as Connor Reed, Stephen Amell as Garret Kelton, Serina Gulamgaus as Pavani or Pav, and Alex Mallari Jr. as Sergeant Kingston or King in lead roles. The movie revolves around individuals with superhuman powers known as Powers who are policed and oppressed.

Once the backbone of industrial jobs, these citizens have now fallen into poverty due to increased mechanization in the industry. Set five years after the events of the last film, the story follows Connor, who has been released from jail and now works as a janitor at the community center. Critical to the story is Pavani, a young girl who witnesses the brutal murder of her brother by the new K9 units launched by Sergeant King.

What is happening in Lincoln City?

In Lincoln City, there has been a rise in Powers’ murders by Guardians during chases. Sergeant King has responded by launching a special K9 program with robot dogs. He proudly tells the Powers community that these dogs are trained to detain people without causing harm. One officer demonstrates how the dog stops when the target raises their hands.

Meanwhile, Garret has become the leader of the Psyke mafia. Psyke is a drug made from the spine fluids of Powers. Garret sees himself as a hero, as he’s trying to produce Psyke without using the spine fluid of Powers. Sergeant King is running for Union President and has support from higher authorities.

He aims to gain the support of the Powers community by promoting the K9 program as a safer way to handle them. He also has a deal with Garret, where he receives a share of the drug deals in exchange for not interfering with Garret’s business.

Why is King after Pavani?

Pavani is Tarak’s sister. Tarak, a Power with the ability to camouflage himself, takes care of Pavani as her elder brother despite facing financial struggles. To earn more money, Tarak joins Garret’s squad supplying Psyke, a drug made from Powers’ spine fluids. Tarak offers to use his camouflaging skills for more tasks, but Garret ignores him.

One night, Tarak steals the money that Garret’s people are supposed to deliver to the King. When King realizes the money is missing, he unleashes a K9 to track Tarak. The K9 finds Tarak and administers an overdose of Psyke, killing him. Pavani witnesses her brother’s brutal death and uses her powers to destroy the K9. Unfortunately, the K9’s final memory is of Pavani.

When King’s men recover the K9’s memory, they discover footage of Pavani destroying the K9 unit, prompting King to order her capture to prevent Pavani from exposing the truth about the K9 dogs to her community. Despite King’s efforts, Pavani manages to evade capture for a while. Eventually, Connor finds her in the community center, where he works as a janitor.

Do Connor and Pavani manage to escape King?

Connor takes Pavani to Mina, the manager of the Community center, where they find comfort. However, the police soon arrive, searching for Pavani. This leaves Pavani with no choice but to leave the community center and head to Connor’s apartment, but cameras capture their departure, alerting King to their whereabouts. When the police reach Connor’s apartment, Connor and Pavani narrowly escape.

Realizing they have no other choice, Connor takes Pavani to Garret, and he suggests erasing Pavani’s memory of Tarak’s death to avoid King’s pursuit. While Connor agrees to the plan, Pavani is unaware of their intentions. As Pavani sits with the woman, prepared to erase her memory, she realizes the woman intends to erase all memories of Tarak.

Pavani resists and wants to preserve her brother’s memory. Concurrently, Connor also grasps Garret’s plan and attempts to take Pavani away. Garret’s men try to restrain Connor but are electrocuted. Connor and Pavani escape, reaching Mina’s place before driving towards the border. Unfortunately, King’s drones spot their car, and he sends Guardians to eliminate them.

Garret joins the chase on King’s orders as well. Despite their efforts to not get caught, Mina’s car is cornered by Garret’s men. Garret aims his gun at Pavani, but Connor intervenes, shielding her. King sees everything from the drone flying overhead, and after realizing Garret’s reluctance to eliminate them, King orders the Guardians to open fire.

Two of Garret’s people are shot, and Garret himself is injured. Mina decides to stay behind and provide cover so others have time to escape. Connor, Pavani, and Garret escape in Garret’s car, and the latter leads them to a safe house. Unfortunately for Mina, she is shot and killed.

How does King’s foul actions come to light?

Connor and Pavani tend to Garret’s wound and successfully remove the bullet. Pavani notices they are at Garret’s childhood home in the Lincoln Sanctuary. The following morning, Officer Davis arrives, and they all collaborate to expose King’s lies. Pavani reveals that the K9 dogs record everything, and Garret agrees to use this recording as evidence.

Officer Davis informs them that King keeps his personal K9 bot dog at his home. They devise a plan where Garret and Connor disguise will themselves as Union representatives to create a distraction. This will allow Pavani to retrieve the dog. Like always, King locks his K9 bot in a shed, unaware of the plan. Pavani enters the shed and attempts to retrieve the dog, but King’s trusted officers receive a notification.

They remotely control the dog from the police department while Pavani struggles to put it to sleep. Connor joins her, and they manage to unlock the dog together. They then take it to the tower, where Garret’s headquarters is located. However, Garret reveals a different plan. He intends to use the footage from the K9 to blackmail King to ensure the safety of the entire community while also gaining control over King.

Connor and Pavani disagree, but Garret’s associates restrain them while Garret dismantles the K9’s head. As King’s squad arrives at the towers, ready to storm in, Garret comes downstairs with the headless K9, proposing a deal to King. King doesn’t get intimidated and stabs Garret and leads his team into the tower.

Pavani and Connor manage to escape with the Bot’s head, but a K9 tracks them down and injects Connor with a lethal dose of Psyke before Pavani manages to take control of the K9. One of King’s trusted officers arrives with yet another K9, but Pavani turns both bots against each other. In the ensuing chaos, the officer shoots Pavani in the gut.

How does Code 8 Part 2 end?

Despite her injury, Pavani and Connor escape the towers but are confronted by several police officers. A news reporter captures the scene on camera, and Pavani requests the camera to transfer the footage. Officer Davis arrives and defuses the situation. The reporter hands them the camera, and Connor powers the K9 head. Pavani transfers all the data from the K9 to the camera, exposing King’s lies on live TV for the whole city to see.

After many deaths and injuries among the Powers, King is finally exposed. The city learns that the seemingly harmless K9s were actually rigged with Psyke to kill the Powers and make it appear as though they had overdosed on drugs.

In the movie’s final scenes, Connor returns to his job at the community center, which he has reopened. Pavani is also doing well and often visits Connor at the community center. As for Sergeant Kingston, he is handed a long sentence for his corruption and abuse of power.
