Bhakshak (2024) Ending Explained – Does Vaishali Singh save the orphan girls from Bansi Sahu?

Bhakshak Plot Summary

The film opens in Munawwarpur, Bihar where two men try to dispose of the dead body of a young teen girl after one of the two men killed her after sexually assaulting the girl. A while later, a woman named Vaishali Singh, who works for her independent news channel, receives a news tip from her informant.

The informant asks for a huge sum of money from Vaishali and tells her that the information could change the history of their state. According to the information, several orphan girls were being raped, assaulted, and killed by the administrators working at a shelter home – Munawwarpur Shelter Home.

What happens when Vaishali tries to report the crime?

Vaishali tries to find the truth behind the information and files an official complaint with the police. However, the police officer refuses to file the complaint due to lack of evidence. Vaishali later learns that the police officer was close to the NGO/Shelter Home’s chief – Bansi Sahu.

Vaishali and her cameraman, Bhaskar Sinha, travel across the city to find some information about the crimes committed at the shelter home. At another NGO, they meet Sudha, the woman who had fled from Munawwarpur Shelter Home.

What does Sudha tell Vaishali about the crimes committed at the Shelter Home?

After a lot of convincing, Sudha details how the male caretakers at the NGO sexually assaulted the girls who were all orphans. Sudha also tells Vaishali that the women who worked at the NGO forced the girls to sleep in the nude and molested the orphan girls.

Moreover, Sudha details an incident when she witnessed Bansi Sahu himself sexually assaulting the girls along with a police officer – the same officer who had refused to file the complaint. Vaishali learns that Sudha fled from the shelter home when she was also going to be attacked by Bansi Sahu.

How does Bansi Sahu try to stop Vaishali?

Meanwhile, Bansi Sahu asks Vaishali and Bhaskar to meet him and tries to assert his power over them. He threatens to harm Vaishali’s family and asks them to stop pursuing the case. Despite the threats from Bansi and warnings from her husband and his family, Vaishali continues to try and find evidence to incriminate Bansi Sahu and his accomplices.

To teach Vaishali a lesson, Bansi orders for Vaishali’s brother-in-law to be attacked. Vaishali is forced by her family to push down her efforts on the case. A PIL is filed, urging the government to take action on the case which is when IPS Officer Jasmeet Gaur learns about the case.

What does Vaishali do to expose Bansi’s crimes?

IPS Officer Jasmeet Gaur tells Vaishali that Bansi’s connection with the law had impacted their case. She adds that a stronger witness testimony would be required for an official investigation. Vaishali tries to convince Sudha to testify against Bansi Sahu but the girl is hesitant. After some prodding, Sudha agrees to testify and the case is finally picked up for investigation.

How does Bhakshak end?

Thanks to Sudha’s testimony, the police officers go to the NGO with an official warrant. The people involved in the case, along with Bansi Sahu, are arrested. Vaishali takes a breath of fresh air when the orphan girls from the Munawwarpur Shelter Home are freed.

The film ends with Vaishali reporting the incident one last time, mocking the audience for not taking a stand for victims of sexual assault. She urges the viewers to stop turning their backs when victims, who do not have their own parents are left at the mercy of Bhakshaks (predators) like Bansi Sahu.
