Love Alarm Seasons 1 and 2 (2019)

The 2019 romance drama starring Netflix’s ‘it boy’ Song Kang is the first Korean show to be picked up by the streaming giant. The show has a total of 14 episodes over its two seasons and revolves around the story of a technologically advanced world that enables users to discover their soulmates through an application. 

The Love Alarm app notifies someone that the person who loves them is within a 10-meter radius of turning on. Song Kang plays Hwang Sun-oh in the show who falls in love with Kim Jo-jo, the protagonist of the show who comes from a well-to-do family.


Sweet Home (2020)

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Sweet Home tells the story of Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang) who is orphaned after an extreme and unexpected family tragedy. Hyun-soo moves into a new apartment complex but soon there is an alien invasion in the town where monsters start taking over the world and killing people. 

Similar to a zombie apocalypse, the monster has a way to turn people into monsters too. The inhabitants of the apartment complex now have one sole goal and that is to stop the monsters that are lurking everywhere outside from getting inside. Sweet Home was also announced to have a sequel that will be released in 2022. 


Nevertheless (2021)

The 2022 K-drama Nevertheless gave Song Kang the title of the ‘hottest red flag’ with his portrayal of Park Jae-eon. He is a typical playboy who finds dating a waste of time but likes to flirt around. Even though he is friendly and cheerful towards all, he does not pursue the women but is pursued by them.

He meets Yu Na-bi and follows his pattern of “push-and-pull” and manages not to get swept up in emotions. Jae-eon draws firm lines between himself and Na-bi by not revealing his true feeling but hates it when Na-bi starts getting closer to her old friend. Will Na-bi be able to change Jae-eon or will another heartbreak change Na-bi to turn into Jae-eon altogether?


Forecasting Love and Weather (2022)

The 2022 romance K-drama narrates the story of work and love in the office of the National Weather Service of South Korea. The personal lives of workers there are hotter than the tropical nights and more unpredictable than the localized heavy rains of the locality.

Forecasting Love and Weather focuses on Jin Ha-kyung who is an intelligent and highly organized weather forecaster who does her work by the book and wants to keep her personal and professional lives separate.

Lee Shi-woo (played by Song Kang) on the other hand is a free spirit who is always thinking outside the box. Although he can appear clumsy, he boasts an impressive IQ of 150 and is able to achieve anything once he sets his mind to it.

After an incident brings Shi-woo and Ha-kyung together, the two get catapulted into a chaotic romance in the office setting that forces both of them to make certain decisions that could have life-altering consequences.  


Navillera (2021)

The show Navillera narrates the story of a 70-year-old man, Shim Deok-chool, who had a dream and a 23-year-old man, Lee Chae-rok (played by Song Kang) with a gift. Together, both of them lift each other out of harsh realities and rise to the challenge of becoming ballerinos.

After giving up his dream for years to provide for his family, Deok-chool decides to go against the wishes of his family and pursue his dream of becoming a ballet dancer. Lee Chae-rok is a 23-year-old man who tried out many sports since he was young. Since he could not find any success in any of the sports, he became interested in ballet and follows his late mother’s footsteps into becoming a ballet dancer. 


The Liar and His Lover (2017)

The 16-episode 2017 drama follows the love story of a depressed genius music composer Kang Han-gyeol who meets the high school student Yoon So-rim when he’s living under a hidden identity.

With her courageous honesty and beautiful singing, So-rim draws Han-gyeol back to her again and again. Song Kang plays a supporting role as Baek Jin-woo in this show.


Hello, Spring (2015)

In 2015 K-drama Hello, Spring, we follow the story of Park Se-bom who finally meets Kang Min-gi, the guy of her dreams. After she runs into Min-gi and accidentally destroys his project on the way to school, the two become enemies. Following the incident, Se-bom starts stalking him and they eventually develop feelings for each other. Song Kang plays Jung Woo-jin in this 4-episode web drama.


Beautiful Vampire (2018)

This 2018 movie, Beautiful Vampire follows the story of a vampire named Ran who runs a small makeup shop within a quiet alley in the Mangwon Neighborhood area of Seoul. After running the shop for the last 500 years, the new building owner appears in front of her and asks her to move out of the building.

A boy named Lee So-nyun (played by Song Kang) appears in front of Ran. He has the same scent as Jin-yi, the only man who loved her for the way she was. The boy’s scent wakes up Ran’s thirst for blood, which she has suppressed for 500 years.
