Beauty and Mr. Romantic – Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Episode 3

In the beginning of Beauty and Mr. Romantic Episode 3, Mi-ja wants to express her gratitude to Pil-seung’s grandfather for providing her with monetary support. To encourage him to continue providing handouts to her, she is seen hugging him. This is clearly done in order to lead him on.

While Mi-ja is hugging the grandfather, Geum-ja happens to spot him hugging her as she’s traveling by bus. On the other hand, she is unable to see Mi-ja clearly, and perceives it as him hugging a younger woman.

Immediately after this, Geum-ja makes her way back to her house and informs Myeong-dong that she witnessed Pil-seung’s grandfather hugging a far younger woman. Shortly after, Geum-ja gives the news to Sun-young as well, who dismisses the claim immediately.

On the other hand, Sun-young overhears her friends and Ae-kyo talking about the possibility that Pil-seung isn’t her biological son. It just so happens that Soo-yeon is present at the time when Sun-young is listening in on this conversation, and she defends her best friend.

Following this, Soo-yeon tells her husband Jin-taek that she can’t tolerate Ae-kyo living in their house anymore. As a consequence of this, Jin-taek reveals to Ae-kyo that he will search for another place for her to stay. In the following scene, we see Ae-kyo making an effort to make amends with Soo-yeon, who does not appear to be very convinced.

We see Mi-ja take Pil-seung’s grandfather out on a date. While they are walking, she casts a glimpse in the direction of a jewellery store. Following this, the grandfather takes her inside to purchase the piece of jewellery she liked. At this point, Geum-ja spots the two of them together. This time, she is able to recognise Mi-ja. In the meantime, Sun-young finds out that her grandfather gave an enormous amount of money to Mi-ja. This is something that completely shocks her, and she is unable to comprehend it.

Later that evening, Sun-young confronts her father about his relationship with Mi-ja. He goes on to tell her that he has feelings for her. Following this, Sun-young has a conversation with Mi-ja and approves her relationship with her father. Mi-ja, on the other hand, continues to oppose the idea of getting together with her father and begins to speak poorly about him. As a consequence of the grandfather’s accidental overhearing of the conversation, he suffers a heart attack and ultimately passes away.

In an effort to save her image, Mi-ja decides to take her children from the flat and relocate out of the property. Do-ra can secure a career in the acting industry not long after that, and she immediately goes to tell Pil-seung about her achievement. His mother, on the other hand, requests that she leave and doesn’t allow her to meet him.

The show then moves to a different timeline, one in which fifteen years have passed. Do-ra has established herself as a successful actress. Pil-seung, on the other hand, is now a director. The episode comes to a close with Pil-seung spotting Do-ra’s poster on the metro station.

The Episode Review

In episode 3, Mi-ja and Pil-seung’s grandfather go out on a date. After Soo-yeon has had enough of Ae-kyo, she approaches Jin-taek and requests that he get her to leave. Pil-seung’s grandfather has a heart attack. Mi-ja takes her kids and moves apartments yet again. After growing up, Do-ra becomes a well-known actress, and Pil-seung goes on to become a director.

At this point, the plot of the show has drastically improved, and you begin to feel a growing appreciation for it. Throughout the entirety of the episode, several unexpected turns and twists keep you captivated.

Furthermore, the characters and the journeys that they go through are incredibly well done. Even characters that are difficult to like, such as Mi-ja and Ae-kyo, are difficult to dislike because, when you consider the bigger picture and the circumstances in which they find themselves, you can’t help but feel empathy for them.

During the final moments of the episode, the plot moves ahead by fifteen years. Our central characters have grown up at this point and it signifies the beginning of the plot development. It is abundantly clear that up to this point, we have only been provided with background information. This takes up three episodes of the show, and as a result, it offers a solid foundation for the storyline that will be explored in the episodes to come.
