Carnival Row is an exciting two-season TV show which combines fantasy and action with cop thrillers and mysteries along with a star-studded cast of Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Jared Harris and Indira Varma. In a world where humans and faes are at odds, the human detective Philo falls for the fae rebel Vignette.
However, he has a dangerous past that could very well get him killed. Unfortunately, just as the story was picking up and introducing more intriguing characters, dynamics and societies, Carnival Row was cancelled. The Witcher

Geralt of Rivia is a lone wolf, a Witcher that roams the lands on his own, killing monsters that cross his path. But whether he likes it or not, he gets roped into other people’s adventures whether it is Yennefer the powerful sorceress or Jaskier the bumbling musician. On top of it, he is forced to look for the lost princess Ciri whose kingdom has been invaded after he promised her father to look after her.
Supernatural

In a world of monsters and angels, God and the Devil, the only line of defence on Earth are the human hunters. Supernatural follows the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean who come from a family of hunters but try to find their own, separate path after their mother is killed by a demon. But they are forced to get back into the family business together when their father disappears without a trace.
Preacher

With a mysterious past, Jesse decides to settle down by following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a preacher in his hometown but he’s not too happy about it. An incident with an abusive church-goer leads to Jesse meeting with the happy-go-lucky vampire, Cassidy. If that wasn’t enough to pull him back to his old ways, he is suddenly possessed by something that he thinks is the voice of God.
Once Upon A Time

Emma is a bounty hunter who has no life and as she wishes for some friends or family, a little boy, Henry, claiming to be her son shows up at her door. He declares that she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.
Unfortunately, all of the people of their kingdom have been cursed by Regina, the Evil Queen to lose their memories and are trapped in the modern world. Emma needs to help them without getting caught by Regina who happens to be Henry’s adoptive mother.
Shadowhunters

Clary Fray, an ordinary art student with an ordinary life is suddenly thrust into the world of angels and demons when her mother is kidnapped on her birthday. She ends up running into a group of shadowhunters aka demon hunters who have the blood of angels and are the only ones who can help.
What she doesn’t know is that her mother was a shadowhunter as well and went into hiding when Clary was born. Now Clary must unearth her secret to track and save her mother.
Grimm
Similarities – Solving crimes, supernatural, action
Another fantasy cop procedural show that would make Philo proud is Grimm. It follows Detective Nick who finds out that he comes from a long line of hunters who have been tasked with maintaining the peace between humans and Wesens aka supernatural creatures inspired by the Grimm’s fairy tales. With the help of his friends which include a Wesen, they must take down any dangerous creature they come across.
The Shannara Chronicles
Similarities – Mystery, fantasy, romance
Before Austin Butler got busy emulating the King of Rock, he was in the underrated fantasy show The Shannara Chronicles. While the human world has more or less been destroyed, the elves live peacefully in their hidden kingdom.
But what they don’t know is that the mythical Ellcrys they have been tasked to protect is the only thing protecting the world from thousands of demons. As it starts dying, Princess Amberle and the half-elf, Wil must team up with the human rogue Eretria to save the tree.
Warrior Nun

If you were upset with Amazon’s decision to cancel Carnival Row after season 2, wait till you get to Warrior Nun. But the 2 seasons that we did get from this Netflix original gave us everything from amazing action, fantastic VFX and a good story as it is literally based on an order of warrior nuns.
After an incident, the very dead and disabled Ava wakes up to find that not only can she walk, she has superpowers which she accidentally got from the order.
