Zero to Hero Plot Summary
Zero to Hero is a 2024 film recently released on Netflix. The main cast includes Paula Cohen, Mauricio De Barros, Victor DiCastro, and Carla Diaz. The movie follows a rock musician named Hero who despises country music. Interestingly, Hero bears an uncanny resemblance to the biggest country music star of the time, Sandro Sanderlei. As the story unfolds, Hero ends up taking Sandro’s place for a few months.
Why does Agnaldo hire Hero?
Hero is a wannabe rock musician who frequents his hours between working at a music shop and performing concerts with his band. His best friend, Nelson, is always by his side. Agnaldo is Sandro’s assistant, who happens to be a very famous country music artist in his country. Unfortunately, Sandro gets involved in a controversy when he decides to get liposuction. Despite the doctor’s warnings, Sandro drinks a lot of beer the night before the operation.
This leads to complications during the surgery, and Sandro falls into a coma. Because of this, Sandro’s upcoming Brazil tour faces the risk of cancellation, and Jacques feels his investment is in jeopardy. Fortunately, Agnaldo finds Hero, who looks exactly like Sandro but with long hair and tattoos. To save both his job and Jacques’s money, Agnaldo hires Hero to impersonate Sandro for his Brazil tour, which is planned for three months.
How does Hero manage to become Sandro?
While Hero is initially hesitant due to his dislike for country music, he agrees later because Agnaldo offers to record an album for Hero for free. Hero changes his style, appearance, and music to imitate Sandro. He struggles at first because he hates Sandro and country music, but he later becomes a pro at being Sandro.
Hero enjoys all the stardom until he meets Lulli on his first day of the Brazil tour. Lulli is upset with him because Sandro cheated on her in the past, which brought her a lot of shame. However, she notices Hero being polite and grateful, unlike Sandro, and this helps her let go of some of her hard feelings.
In case you missed it, Lulli is the producer of the Brazil tour. Soon, Hero becomes a hit as Sandro, and the tour also seems to be going well. Lulli and Hero even shot a music video together since the model who had signed for the video was unable to make it to the location.
What happens when Jacques offers Hero a new contract?
After the music video shoot, a heavy rainstorm shuts down all modes of transportation. Sandro and Lulli get on horseback to get to the city. They enjoy the journey, and Lulli starts falling in love. However, when they reach the city, Lulli sees a news article about Sandro (Hero) kissing a model. She thinks Sandro (Hero) has cheated on her again and refuses to talk to him.
A helpless Hero reunites with his crew. Meanwhile, the real Sandro wakes up from his coma. Hero is delighted by the news because he can now break the non-disclosure contract and confess his love for Lulli. However, Jacques has different plans. Jacques believes that Hero is more talented and humble than Sandro, and can yield more profit. So he makes a new contract for Hero to record 12 albums in the upcoming years.
Naturally, Agnaldo, who is emotional and cares for both Hero and Sandro, disapproves of the contract because it is deceitful to Sandro. Agnaldo tries to convince Hero to refuse the contract, but it is all in vain, and Hero signs the contract.
Do Lulli and Hero reconcile?
After Hero signs the contract, Agnaldo and his friends sneak the real Sandro out of the hospital and get him ready for the upcoming concert on the same night. Agnaldo also calls a very famous gossip reporter, and Lulli with her parents. When the concert starts, Hero greets his audience and starts singing. However, after one song, he announces that he has news to share.
Hero reveals everything to the audience and calls Sandro on stage to prove it. The audience goes wild seeing both of them on stage. After telling the truth, Hero immediately goes to meet Lulli to confess his love for her. They finally reunite and express their love for each other. So now, Sandro has a 12-album contract with Jacques, Hero, and Nelson have become famous.
Hero is with Lulli, who has reconciled with her father and stepmom. Agnaldo is also happy, believing that he has done the right thing. Like any other cliché and romantic comedy, the movie has a happy ending. Except for Jacques, of course, he is very upset as Hero tricked him, and now he is stuck with the real Sandro. The movie ends with Hero and Lulli leaving for a farm.
