Your Honor (2024) – K-drama Episode 7 Recap & Review

Episode 7

Episode 7 of Your Honor begins with a flashback to two years ago when Ho-young’s mother Eun-hye passed away. At the funeral, Chae-rim apologises to Pan-ho but he says it’s not her fault. Afterward, Ho-young tries to commit suicide by ingesting pills but his father manages to save him. At the hospital, Pan-ho tries to comfort Ho-young but he is full of regret at not being able to help his mother.

At present, Pan-ho meets Gang-heon, who claims to know everything Pan-ho has been doing behind his back. He tells him to give up hope and trust in fear instead.

The court case for Sang-hyuk begins with Pan-ho presiding. He gets frustrated and during his break, calls Ho-young. The young boy is at a restaurant with Eun. When Eun goes to the toilet, her mother (Ma Ji-young) sits down at the table. She tells Ho-young that Eun has a developmental disorder, and her intelligence is that of a ten-year-old. She warns him not to hurt her.

At home, Pan-ho tells Ho-young to go to the US and stay with an uncle. Ho-young realises that Pan-ho is being blackmailed by Gang-heon and says that he better not give Sang-hyuk a not guilty verdict. Ho-young’s anger bursts out and we see he blames Sang-hyuk for Eun-hye’s death, even if the court wasn’t able to prove it. Pan-ho is shaken and asks if Ho-young meant to hit Sang-hyeon, in order to get revenge, but Ho-young doesn’t give him a straight answer.

In the morning, Pan-ho finds that Ho-young’s bed is empty. He leaves a voicemail and then gets a cab, but the driver turns out to be Mi-yeon. She tells him to legally take Sang-hyuk and Gang-heon down while she deals with Woo One.

The court case resumes and a witness of the shooting is brought to the stand. He saw the shooter but claims it was too dark to identify him as Sang-hyuk. The defence lawyer also makes Chae-rim look like she has a personal vendetta against Sang-hyuk.

Later, Pan-ho visits Yi-hwan in the hospital and says they need to rush the Blue House issue. Pan-ho then calls Detective Lee, a colleague of Chae-rim’s and asks for help finding his son. Lee’s supervisor informs Gang-heon and soon, Pan-ho gets a call regarding the matter.

Pan-ho is brought to Gang-heon in front of a store where Ho-young and Eun are sitting and eating together. Pan-ho falls to his knees and begs Gang-heon to spare his child. He promises to give Sang-hyuk a not-guilty verdict. Gang-heon seems pacified and walks away.

Pan-ho goes up to the youngsters and sends Eun home. When they get home, Pan-ho once again asks if Ho-young met her on purpose, if he’s doing it all on purpose. Ho-young simply hugs Pan-ho and apologises, agreeing not to see her again.

The court case resumes and prosecutor So-young pulls a twist when she brings in a new witness — none other than Jang Chae-rim! So-young questions Chae-rim and in doing so, mentions that they will also be bringing Cheong-gang as a witness. This does not bode well for Pan-ho who almost immediately gets a call from Gang-heon. Pan-ho says he’ll figure something out.

Elsewhere, So-young and Chae-rim seem to be sleeping at the prosecutor’s office itself. So-young talks about how she wants to take Gang-heon down and Chae-rim says she’s after them because of Eun-hye’s death. People think Eun-hye committed suicide because of forced drug abuse but she actually did so because of sexual assault. Again, the details are fuzzy on this.

The next morning, Eun turns up outside Ho-young’s house because he isn’t picking up her phone. Meanwhile, Chae-rim speaks to Pan-ho on the phone and asks if he already knew why she was hiding the whole time.

Eun finally meets Ho-young in the library. She’s confused and crying but he curtly tells her that her father is a scary man who could get his own dad killed. Eun is shocked and ends up passing out when she’s leaving the library. She’s taken to the hospital. Ji-young shows Gang-heon all her texts and calls to Ho-young.

Pan-ho and Chae-rim meet in a public location. Chae-rim says that she found out that Sang-taek has an alibi for the time of Sang-hyeon’s murder. She hints that she knows the real culprit of the murder but first, she wants to focus on catching Sang-hyuk and Gang-heon.

At the hospital, Gang-heon listens to all the voicemails Eun sent Ho-young. Ho-young is picked up from the library and taken to see Gang-heon. Gang-heon asks him to stay by Eun’s side till she’s better. Ho-young challenges Gang-heon, saying that it was his order that made Pan-ho tell Ho-young to stay away from Eun.

Suddenly, Ho-young gets an asthma attack. And thanks to all the times that Gang-heon listened to the recording of that first emergency call, he immediately recognises the sound of his gasps at the end of Your Honor Episode 7.

The Episode Review

Your Honor Episode 7 is a bit slow but makes up for the pace with intensity. From the beginning, Pan-ho finds himself in a very precarious situation since Gang-heon knows what he’s been up to. His circumstances get even worse and he ends up torn between Chae-rim and Gang-heon — both of whom are asking for a different kind of justice. The episode builds tension really well from start to finish.

What makes things even more interesting is the development of Ho-young. Things are not quite clear yet but his mother’s death is definitely due, in part, to Sang-hyuk’s actions. So did Ho-young mean to orchestrate all of this? But what would he gain from dating Eun, who’s basically a child? Things are more convoluted than ever and hopefully, the last leg of the season will explain it all. For now, that insane cliffhanger has left us on the edge of our seats!
