Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning
Young Sheldon Season 7 Episode 6 opens with Missy telling Mary that she overheard George Jr. and Mandy having sex. Following this, Mary tells George Sr. about this, expressing her discomfort because they’re having sex outside of wedlock. On the other hand, George Sr. doesn’t mind it and tells her that they have a baby together, and this should be the least of their concerns.
Following this, Mary goes to George Jr.’s room and asks them about their intention to get married. When they tell Mary that they haven’t decided on a date, she insists that they get married and brings up their sexual life. Following this, Mandy and George agree to get married.
Shortly after, Mandy visits her parents to invite them to her wedding. When she tells them that she’s getting married at City Hall, her mother offers to pay for a big wedding. This truly makes Mandy happy. Following this, the parents of the soon-to-be bride and groom meet up at the Cooper house. Following this, Mary and Mandy’s mother get into a disagreement about the marriage taking place in a Catholic or Baptist church.
The next day, Mary secretly gets Cece baptized by Pastor Robb. On the other hand, Mandy’s mother secretly gets Cece baptized by a Catholic priest. When Mandy learns that her mother and George’s mother have gone behind their backs and made a decision for them, she gets extremely upset. However, when she brings this up with George, he doesn’t understand the problem and doesn’t offer her enough support.
The next morning, George brings Mandy flowers to Meemaw’s home to apologize for the previous day. Following this, the two of them decide to get married at City Hall without inviting their parents to teach them a lesson.
The Episode Review
George and Mandy make their wedding plans in the sixth episode. Without getting George and Mandy’s consent, Mary and Mandy’s mother baptized Cece. George and Mandy are at odds with each other.
This episode, like the rest of the season, is captivating, entertaining, and exciting, with just the right amount of drama to keep viewers hooked. Exciting new developments are occurring in the lives of these characters, and their arcs are becoming more fascinating.
The show’s only real flaw is the lack of screen time and spotlight for some of the characters. The focus is on a few characters at the expense of other characters who are just as, if not more, significant. I find it particularly strange that, despite Sheldon’s role as the show’s protagonist, he is frequently given little screen time.
