Episode 6

Episode 6 of Wonderful World starts with Soo-hyun shocked by Seon-yul’s presence in Kim Eun-min’s hospital room. Just then, Eun-min’s ventilator starts beeping. Seon-yul panics and rushes to try and resuscitate Eun-min but the doctors show up and pull him away to take care of their patient. However, the beeping ventilator reminds Soo-hyun of Gun-woo’s death and she has a panic attack due to the trauma.

Seon-yul leaves to go to the rooftop to get some fresh air and Soo-hyun follows after him. Seon-yul tells her that he panicked because he cannot see people dying due to his trauma. He wonders why Soo-hyun was in Eun-min’s room. Soo-hyun notices the bloodstains on Seon-yul’s body and clothes, and asks if he is okay. Seon-yul dismisses her concerns, asking her to mind her business as they weren’t close to each other.

He leaves to go home and stands under the shower to wash away Min-hyuk’s blood from his body. Soo-hyun meets the doctors at the hospital and learns that Eun-min is stable now. She also learns that Eun-min had been in a coma for many years which makes her think about Eun-min’s son. Meanwhile, Soo-jin checks on Min-hyuk and learns that he is still in the ICU after bleeding profusely from jumping out of the building.

Seon-yul starts channelling his anger into working out and runs on the treadmill. Soo-jin notices him and rushes to stop him from doing so due to his weak heart condition. She tells Seon-yul how he means a lot to her as Seon-yul helped her a lot when they were both being treated for their respective heart conditions and adds that she did not want to lose him.

Meanwhile, Soo-hyun visits the local police station to learn more about Eun-min’s accident. The cops tell her that Eun-min’s accident was probably planned and add that they did not have any new developments in her case. She decides to inspect the accident spot and concludes that the accident seemed staged. She calls Reporter Jeong and asks to know the verdict of Eun-min’s accident case.

That night, Soo-ho meets Go-eun and formally apologises to his mother-in-law for cheating on his daughter. He tells her how sorry he was for putting Soo-hyun through all this and adds how he too was trying to cope with the loss of his son as well as Soo-hyun’s incarceration. Go-eun chastises Soo-ho’s poor decision but Soo-ho breaks down into tears, apologising to her.

Soo-hyun overhears the conversation between Soo-ho and Go-eun from outside the restaurant and starts crying too. She goes to meet Yu-ri and the two have a walk in the park as Soo-hyun tries to compose herself. Yu-ri tells Soo-hyun how she has been fond of her ever since she was a child and thanks Soo-hyun for protecting her as an older sister would.

Soo-hyun asks Yu-ri to let her handle the issue of Soo-ho’s infidelity on her terms. The next morning, Go-eun tells Soo-ho that Soo-hyun is waiting for him at their house. There, Soo-hyun tells Soo-ho that she has thought over their situation and is willing to give him another chance. Soo-hyun reveals that since Gun-woo and she were both missing from his life, she understood how lonely Soo-ho must have felt. She also tells Soo-ho that it will take time for her to recover their relationship.

Meanwhile, Seon-yul visits the hospital and checks up on Eun-min. Meanwhile, Soo-hyun gets a text from Reporter Jeong about Eun-min’s accident case documents. Soo-hyun studies the documents and learns that the driver of the truck had crossed the street speed limit by a huge margin.

Soo-hyun calls Reporter Jeong and asks her to find more details about the truck driver. On the other hand, Seon-yul texts Soo-hyun, checking up on her. Soo-hyun wonders how Seon-yul suddenly changed his mind after pushing her away. At the hospital, Tae-ho thinks about Seon-yul trying to save Eun-min’s life. He spots a young cancer patient and tries to cheer the child up.

Soo-jin shows up there and manages to make the child laugh leaving Tae-ho happy. Tae-ho and Soo-jin interact for a while and Soo-jin leaves her card with him. Tae-ho is surprised by Soo-jin’s personality. On the other hand, Soo-hyun shows up at the hospital to see Eun-min and prays for her. Tae-ho tries to call her but she misses it.

At the same time, Soo-jin spots the gambling parlour owner at the hospital who is looking for Min-hyuk. She asks Seon-yul to come to the hospital to save Min-hyuk. Soo-hyun is outside the hospital talking to Tae-ho on the phone when she spots Seon-yul rushing inside and follows after him. Seon-yul shows up at Min-hyuk’s hospital room and finds the gambling parlour owner and his goons there.

Seon-yul fights them off inside the hospital causing chaos. Soo-hyun is shocked to see Seon-yul injured after the fight and goes to check up on him. Seon-yul leaves without paying any heed to Soo-hyun’s words. That night, Seon-yul goes back home and tries to calm himself down but finds it hard to do so after witnessing Min-hyuk’s mother almost losing her life.

Soo-hyun also gets back home and recalls how Gun-woo’s death prompted her to take an action this drastic that ruined Min-hyuk’s life. The next morning, Soo-ho asks Soo-hyun if she wants to move to a different house as this one reminds them of Gun-woo. She refuses and goes to meet her mother who is making kimchi with Yu-ri. Meanwhile, Soo-ho unwillingly reports a news article praising Kim Joon.

Later that night, Soo-hyun visits Seon-yul at the junkyard and takes some side-dishes along with her. Seon-yul apologises to Soo-hyun for being too harsh with her. Soo-hyun is about to leave when he offers to help change her car tyre. Soo-hyun sits observing the stars when Seon-yul joins her and the two chat. Soo-hyun offers to be Seon-yul’s guardian to make sure he doesn’t get in any trouble.

Seon-yul is shocked by Soo-hyun’s kindness. After Soo-hyun leaves, Kim Joon’s secretary asks to meet Seon-yul. Meanwhile, Han-sang spots the two together and takes photos of Seon-yul. That night, Soo-ho takes Soo-hyun out for dinner at a fancy restaurant but she is reminded of the fact that Seon-yul was afraid of the fire.

Soo-hyun recalls not seeing any scars on Seon-yul’s body and starts suspecting him. That night, Seon-yul goes to meet his mother who is none other than Ji-woong’s wife as the episode ends.

The Episode Review

The jaw-dropping plot twist in this episode had me shocked to my core. From the trailer itself, this one looked like a pathbreaking drama for Cha Eun-woo but from this episode, it is clear that the idol actor is branching into a new era of his acting career. I pity Soo-hyun for believing in Seon-yul but this evil version of Eun-woo is a lot more interesting to watch than the tsundere good boy we have seen for so many years.

With Seon-yul being Ji-woong’s son, I wonder who Min-hyuk is and what his motive behind sending the photo of Soo-ho’s affair to Soo-hyun is. It is possible that he could be a friend of Seon-yul or his brother. We will know more about this in the episodes to come. 

Aside from that, Soo-ho’s refusal to take accountability for his actions is shocking to me. The way his mother mistreats Soo-hyun, he should be standing up to her. Instead, all he is doing is to try and pretend that nothing is wrong which is not a good look on him. Moreover, something still feels off with Yu-ri and I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that she was also having an affair with Soo-ho as well.
