Episode 11

Episode 11 of Wonderful World starts with Seon-yul at the funeral home, looking at the photos on Eun-min’s phone. He finds photos of himself on her phone and realises that he does not have any photos of his mother. Meanwhile, Soo-hyun thinks about how Seon-yul spent hours trying to save her mother’s life just a day prior.

At the funeral home, Seon-yul listens to an audio recording on Eun-min’s phone which turns out to be a conversation between her and Ji-woong from the night of his death. Seon-yul listens to some part of the audio but stops playing the recording midway. He goes outside to see Soo-hyun paying her respects to Eun-min. Seon-yul asks Soo-hyun if she is here to gloat at him. She is about to leave when Seon-yul stops her.

Soo-hyun asks Seon-yul to give himself another chance to live. Once she gets back home, Soo-hyun finds Soo-ho packing out his items from the house. Soo-ho is looking at a box full of evidence he had collected against Kim Joon over the years. Soo-ho tells Soo-hyun that Seon-yul is dangerous and hopes she will stop interacting with him. Soo-hyun stops Soo-ho from trying to get territorial over her.

Meanwhile, Yu-ri is at her shop when she thinks about how Soo-hyun treated her around her colleagues when they were younger. On the other hand, Myeong-hee shows up to meet Go-eun at the restaurant under the pretext of asking about her health. Myeong-hee tries to imply that Soo-hyun should not separate from Soo-ho and asks her to advise her daughter about it.

Go-eun states that she is going to let Soo-hyun handle this in her way and asks if Myeong-hee would have the same opinion if Soo-hyun was her daughter. Myeong-hee leaves the restaurant and runs into Soo-hyun on her way out. She asks Soo-hyun to forgive Soo-ho once last time and argues that he cheated on her at a time that was very difficult for him.

Soo-hyun asks Myeong-hee to leave her mother out of this as she is having a hard time already. Soo-hyun gives Go-eun a new sweater and asks her about Seon-yul. Go-eun speaks fondly about Seon-yul and reveals how he had been a regular customer to her for years. At the same time, Seon-yul puts his mother to rest.

On his way out, he asks Kim Joon to learn more about Eun-min’s accident. Kim Joon is alarmed that Seon-yul was trying to learn more about the event. Seon-yul goes back home and tries to listen to the voice recording again. He recalls how his mother had sent him inside while talking to his father on the phone on the night of his verdict.

During the call, Eun-min asks Ji-woong about the case but they are interrupted when Soo-hyun shows up there, asking Ji-woong to apologise to her son. Present-day Soo-hyun spends the next couple of days thinking about his life over the years. How he was born with a weak heart and how his father had died as well as his mother had met with an accident.

He also recalls having to live a rough life and wonders why Soo-hyun was so kind to her still. Days go by as Seon-yul spends his days in bed, thinking about what purpose his life has now after his mother’s death. Soo-hyun shows up outside his house with some food and Seon-yul finally gets out of bed. Soo-hyun asks Seon-yul to pull himself together.

The episode then moves to Soo-hyun seeing how Go-eun was having a hard time. She decides to take her mother out on a day trip and the mother-daughter duo go out shopping. Later Soo-hyun takes Go-eun for dinner and dessert and eventually the two go home. Simultaneously, Soo-jin visits Tae-ho to tell her the truth.

Upon meeting him, she is shocked to learn that Tae-ho is already aware of the fact that she was using him to get information on Soo-hyun and Soo-ho. Tae-ho tells Soo-jin that he will get in touch with her later which leaves her confused. She wonders what Tae-ho wanted with her now that her plan had been exposed.

Soo-hyun tells Go-eun all about Seon-yul and reveals that he had also lost his mother recently. Soo-hyun tells her mother that she had so much pity for Seon-yul despite what his father had done to her son. That night, Go-eun tells Soo-hyun that she is worried about her daughter being all alone after she passes away. Soo-hyun asks Go-eun to dismiss the thought and the two try to sleep.

Soo-hyun is up all night when she gets a call from Seon-yul. He plays the voice recording of her conversation with Ji-woong where she asks him to apologise to Gun-woo. Seon-yul asks Soo-hyun why she is checking up on him even after all that he has done to her. Soo-hyun states that even when she was in prison, she missed Gun-woo.

After seeing Eun-min, she came to realise that by killing Ji-woong, she also killed his family who were suffering because of her rash decision. Seon-yul tells Soo-hyun how to him, seeking revenge for his father’s murder also was just as important as killing Ji-woong was to Soo-hyun. The next day, Soo-hyun asks Reporter Jeong to connect her with a road accident attorney.

She ends up meeting the advocate on Eun-min’s case and learns that the skid marks from the road show that the accident was caused on purpose. The attorney states that the driver of the car had purposely hit the brakes after hitting Eun-min. Meanwhile, Seon-yul suspects that Kim Joon had someone install a camera or a microphone in his house. He tells Soo-jin and Yong-doo all about it.

Soo-jin tells Seon-yul that before her death, Eun-min was trying to say something to her. Seon-yul is concerned. He calls Soo-hyun and asks her to meet him. The two meet at Eun-min’s accident spot and Soo-hyun reveals that Eun-min’s accident was planned and tells him that Kim Joon could be the one after this. The episode ends with Seon-yul thinking about all the years he spent helping Kim Joon.

The Episode Review

This episode was extremely emotional. We see Seon-yul realising how he was so consumed by revenge that he did not take the time to spend time with his mother before her death. Now with Eun-min also gone, he finds no purpose in life – somewhat similar to what Soo-hyun felt after losing Gun-woo.

I am sure this grief will bring the two together as now Seon-yul and Soo-hyun have a common enemy – Kim Joon. I wonder what actually happened on the night of Gun-woo’s death that stopped Ji-woong from taking Gun-woo to the hospital. It is clear that someone also unlocked the door and I wonder if Hye-geum was the one to do so upon Kim Joon’s instructions to try and bring Soo-ho down.
