Heart of Stone 2
Netflix’s Heart of Stone is now available for streaming. It is arguably the streamer’s biggest budget film of this year, ranking closely with Extraction 2. While the Chris Hemsworth-led films are definitely shaping up to become a franchise, Netflix might be planning to carve out another action franchise around Gadot.
Heart of Stone also stars Jaime Dornan and India’s heartthrob Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. The film was heavily marketed as an all-guns-blazing action bonanza. Although the action sequences are savoury, the rest of the film, unfortunately, does not match up to their quality.
Netflix is not one to release streaming numbers but they do tend to come up with rankings for their new releases. If Heart of Stone proves popular, there may be a sequel.
If you enjoyed this movie and are hoping for another story set within the same universe – be that a sequel, sidequel, or prequel – you will want to know whether or not Netflix has given a sequel the green light. Here’s what we know:
What is Heart of Stone about?
Gadot plays Rachel Stone, a double agent who has infiltrated the ranks of MI6. She is really an agent of an elite organization called The Charter, whose mission is “world peace.” Unbeknownst to Stone, a conspiracy is unfolding within the ranks of MI6 to steal The Heart, which is The Charter’s crown jewel: a device that can elevate its wielder to the level of playing God.
External forces that include Keya Dhawan (Bhatt) connive with yet another double agent in the MI6 to settle scores of the past. The task for Stone and the rest of The Charter is to ensure that The Heart does not fall into evil hands so its sanctity is preserved in the sanctorum of its operations.

Will there be a Heart of Stone 2?
At the time of writing, a second movie has not been announced but we do think a follow-up movie is highly likely.
Tom Harper, the director of the film, has already given interviews where he has expressed intentions to make a second film. According to Harper, there are “a lot of things to discover” about Rachel’s character and the world she grew up in.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Harper had the following to say about a possible third film.
“There’s plenty that I’d like to explore more with Rachel in that regard. There’s plenty of rich territory with Rachel, with the Heart, with the Charter. Ultimately we have to see how well it does and see how people like it, but I’m excited about it.”
Generally, Netflix, like other cable networks and streamers, gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show or a movie, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some of its content, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton, Red Notice etc.) Other times, it can take months before streamers like Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
Heart of Stone is just one day old on the platform and it is unreasonable to expect a sequel decision so soon. It will take at least weeks of viewership count and streaming data for Netflix to come to a conclusion.
Thus far, the critical and audience reaction to the film has been underwhelming – something we echo in our review. This could impact the chances of a sequel but despite the negative response, there is scope for a franchise.
Meanwhile, a sequel to Red Notice, which also starred Gadot, is destined to go ahead after the SAG-AFTRA strike is over.
We aim to update this page when we have more information.
What could happen in Heart of Stone 2?
Well, that is anyone’s guess really. Harper alluded to discovering more about Rachel’s character in a follow-up sequel. So perhaps that is a place to start.
Alternatively, Heart of Stone 2 could be a prequel that focuses on the origins of the character if she resonates with the viewers. The filmmakers also have the option to base the sequel on Stone’s new team – Keya and Jack – as they continue to save the world using The Heart.
