What did Matthew Muller do?
Matthew Muller is a kidnapper and rapist who invaded the home of Aaron Quinn and Denise Huskins on the night of the 22nd of March 2015. He tied them up and drugged them. He also kidnapped Denise and raped and sexually assaulted her for 48 hours at his cabin in South Lake Tahoe before releasing her near Huntington Beach in California.
During the sexual assaults, Muller made Huskins wear swimming goggles with duct tape over them so as not to reveal his identity, recorded the activity, and threatened to release it if Huskins revealed information of her sexual assault to the police.
Police eventually connected Muller to Quinn and Huskins’ case after he was arrested for another home invasion in Dublin, California, later on in 2015.
What happened during the investigation?
Police tracked a phone he left behind at the crime scene to Muller’s mum, and she told police the phone was her son’s, and he was staying at her cabin in South Lake Tahoe.
Police arrested Muller in connection to the home invasion, and one of the officers on the case, Misty Carausu, found a pair of blacked-out swimming goggles with a strand of blonde hair attached to them. This linked Muller to Huskins’ kidnapping.
Muller was charged with the kidnapping and rape of Denise Huskins in 2015. Muller pleaded guilty to the kidnapping and rape, and in 2022, after delays in the case, he was sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison for kidnapping, robbery and rape.
It is believed Matthew Muller had accomplices but nobody else has ever been arrested in connection with these crimes.
