Where is Liz Golyar now? | The killer from Netflix’s ‘Lover, Stalker, Killer

Liz Golyar

What did Liz Golyar do?

Liz Golyar is an American murderer who killed a woman called Cari Farver in Omaha, Nebraska in 2012. It all started when she met a man called Dave Kroupa on a dating app and they began a casual relationship. However, she was unhappy when Kroupa began seeing Cari Farver and became jealous. Golyar first crossed paths with Farver in the hallway of Kroupa’s apartment building when she arrived unannounced to pick up some of her belongings.

Kroupa started receiving abusive messages that appeared to be from Farver, but what actually happened was far more sinister. It was actually Golyar sending the messages from Farver’s phone after she murdered her in a jealous rage and kept her phone to stalk Kroupa, pretending the messages were from her love rival.

Cari Farver was last seen on the 13th of November 2012 by Kroupa when she left his apartment when he went to work. It was later that same day when Kroupa started receiving strange and abusive messages supposedly from her.

What happened during the investigation and trial?

It was 2015 and nobody had seen Cari for nearly 3 years, which led to the police looking into the mysterious disappearance of the woman. They discovered circumstantial evidence that pointed towards Golyar murdering Farver.

Golyar made a fatal error that led the police to track her down, as she had taken a photo of what appeared to be a tied-up, decomposing body on her tablet, which was retrieved from a storage unit that Kroupa owned. Another photo showed a foot with a tattoo of a Chinese symbol on it that matched one that Farver had on her body. It was determined that Golar had stabbed Farver to death.

Despite having a case that was largely circumstantial and Farver’s body never being located, Golyer was charged with the first-degree murder of Cari Farver in December 2016. Golyar was found guilty of the murder on the 15th of August 2017.
