David Fuller

What did David Fuller do?

David Fuller is an English murderer and necrophile. Fuller’s crimes date as far back as the 1980s with the murders of Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce. The murders went unsolved for decades before Fuller was eventually earmarked as the perpetrator of these crimes. He strangled and sexually assaulted both women after breaking into their homes, just months apart from each other in 1987. These brutal crimes took place in Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent, and the murders became known as ‘the Bedsit murders.’

How was Fuller eventually caught?

The DNA of Knell and Pierce’s murderer was known as far back as 2007 during a cold case review. Analysis of the samples linked both cases to the same unidentified perpetrator.

Fuller was eventually identified as the murderer in 2020 when a match was made with his DNA. When the police arrived to arrest Fuller for the murders, they discovered something else very disturbing while searching his home. They uncovered nearly 900,000 files of him abusing dead bodies of females aged between 9 and 100. The crimes were committed at the Kent and Sussex Hospital and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury, where Fuller worked as a maintenance man since the late ’80s.

What happened during the trial?

Fuller received 12 years for the necrophilia offences, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a whole life order for the murders of Knell and Pierce on the 15th of December 2021.

In October 2021, Fuller was charged with 16 more offences committed at mortuaries between 2007 and 2020, and he pleaded guilty to the charges on the 3rd of November 2022.
