Where is Aurélie Grenon now? The young girlfriend accused in the Outreau Affair

What is the Outreau Affair about?

The Outreau Case: A French Nightmare is a 4-part Netflix true crime documentary that narrates the story of a French case called the Outreau Affair. This took place between 1997 and 2000. The trials for the case were held between 2001 and 2004 wherein 40 individuals were examined over the rape and sexual assault of 50 minors.

Following alerts launched by social services within the Badaoui-Delay family, a long investigation revealed an extensive paedophile network around the area of Outreau in northern France.

The trial took place in 2004 where 12 children were recognized as victims of rape, sexual assault, corruption of minors and pimping at the hands of their parents and other adults. 10 of the 17 accused adults were sentenced to prison with two couples involved.

Myriam Badaoui and Thierry Delay were the parents accused of sexually assaulting their children as well as their neighbours, Aurélie Grenon and her boyfriend David Delplanque, who were also accused of participating in the sexual acts.

What were Aurélie Grenon’s crimes?

Aurélie Grenon, also known as the “too young” girlfriend of David Delplanque was one of the three prime suspects in the Outreau Case. She was the neighbour of the sexual predator parents – Myriam Badaoui and Thierry Delay who sexually assaulted their four sons. It is alleged that Aurélie Grenon was also involved in the sexual assault of her then-partner – David’s biological children.

While talking about her involvement in the sexual assault of minors while being an 18-year-old, Aurélie said, “At that time, I had just left my parents’ house. I was a kid, I was naive.”

Upon being asked why she did not turn herself in at the time of the crime, Aurélie Grenon claims that she was forced to commit the crimes and was raped as well. She adds that the silence was because she was being threatened as she said, “They were threatening me. They knew where my father worked, where my little brothers went to school…”

Where is Aurélie Grenon now?

Aurélie Grenon was sentenced to four years in prison for these rapes and sexual assault of minors in 2004 to which she did not appeal. She also appeared for the trial of Daniel Legrand and recanted her former testimony stating that she too had lied about Daniel’s involvement in the crimes.

As of 2024, there is no known information about Aurélie Grenon’s whereabouts.
